[Game] Kings @ Bulls, 2/16/2022 5pm Pacific 8pm Eastern

This is where I think things are becoming clear. There is a difference between being productive and getting your **** in. De'Aaron has the ability to wipe his butt with any defense when he's going, Sabonis being used as a "go to" scorer probably won't be a reality. Much like it would have been with Haliburton. The team is really missing Davis right now. He's got that scorers mindset.

I like how refs aren't allowed to call reviews on their own except for clear paths, which they will review diligently for several minutes each.

Haven’t seen Holmes since his horrible run. Good.
Good. Should have been pulled the second he went out to double team the player that DDV was guarding beyond the perimeter for no reason. The ball just got flipped to Vucevic for an easy bucket the second he went out to double. Just dumb low IQ basketball.

The issue is, in typical Kings fashion, we're letting Javonte Green go 5-5 for 12 points. Otherwise we could be up
It's not a Kings tradition until we let their 10th man off the bench to score the crucial 15 points to seal it. (Although J. Green is actually a starter at the moment)

He also walks too close to the hoop for rebounds. Misses a bunch of long shot rebounds that bounce over and passed him

I just don't get this doubling crap. I mean, what are the advanced metrics on that? I'd bet when the Kings do that the other team gets a basket like 80% of the time.
I don't get it either. It's like it's in the game plan to double before the play even begins to happen. The ball will be in Dosunmu's hands and they'll run out and double like he's Curry and then he just flips the ball to a more talented player who is now wide open.

They finally have a team that doesn't have to rely on it and they still do it. Modern basketball is to switch everything. If DeRozan can score 50 in this game against Holiday and Hark then good for him. Lets see if he can.

Might be time to phase out Harkless out of the starting 5. Turning back into a pumpkin and it's basically been 4on5 on O vs the Nets and the first half of this game. He was amazing when he was contributing some shooting, but can't keep having these goose-eggs getting major minutes.

I just tuned in but I've been screaming about that for days.

Most of the time it just gives the offense an easy or wide open basket

Yeah, especially some of those are just half-ass doubles, if you are going to do it, at least try trapping the ballhandler a bit at times to switch things up.

He's valuable more than pre trade but yeah, this is why getting someone like Grant if possible would have been the call. The Kings clearly need some more productivity in iso. Davis will help, but that's not this year unfortunately.

Here's the thing. Holmes, as bad as he is now is a much better help and recovery blocker than Sabonis so with Sabonis the doubling might not even be remotely possible if he's the one at the rim helping over. Sabonis needs to body up guys at the rim and that's all positioning. However, in this short span when he's switched hard and far out the pick and roll? He's looked darn good. He's got quick feet. Let him play a little like Chuck Hayes rather than as a helper in drop.
