i hate to even say something like this...cuz i don't know if i even believe it myself but...but im thinking given the rustyness of Webb/Peja/Cat...maybe we should of wein'd them back into either the starting line-up or into the games themselves...meaning maybe have a guy come back one game at time....does that make sense?
I actually thought about that, but given the schedule, and the fact the blazers aren't a real threat in the big picture, what the heck, knock the rust off of all of them at once.

Yup, and the last 1 minute turned into 20 minutes in real life...........;)
I just LOVE it when that happens, shows no one is giving up. Especially on a night where they were never ahead and could not get any significant scoring from two starters. The word HEART comes back into play again tonight, just unsuccessful. :(

What has happened to me? I used to agonize over every regular season loss. I now appear to be suffering from 'lakerfanitis' were all that matters is getting to the play-offs and doing your damage there..............well, at least to my credit, I still watch and enjoy the regular season.
Props to the team for fighting till the end. Hopefully, this game was enough to knock the rust off the big guns, as we will need them Tuesday against Pheonix.
Don't worry, my friend. It's not just you. I think we've grown out of agonizing over every regular season loss for a couple of reasons.

1. We don't see anywhere near as many regular season losses as we did 10 years ago.
2. We KNOW the team is capable of good things. We also know that a loss to Portland in the fourth game in five nights, with Pedja, Webber and Cat playing their first games back, is in NO WAY indicative of how they're capable of playing.
3. We already had two wins that could very well have been losses and might have been with any othe team.
4. WE LOVE THIS TEAM!

:D

Yeah, but their heart is in it only for the last 5 minutes.

That is complete utter and total crap!!!

If you look at the box score, the Kings outscored the Blazers in the second, third and fourth quarters.

This team has HEART. They're also human. They're allowed to lose once in a while.

I totally agree with that. I take that back now. I might be talking about last night's game....;)

If you question this team's heart, I feel sorry for you.

It's not funny, IMHO.

Ok, I take all of my heart in last 5 minutes post back. U guys r right. They were down 18 pts and they came back. They were a tired team and 3 new players came back. I take my posts back and now totally agree with u guys.

I thought the Kings played with a lot of heart. They didn't start out well, but came back into the game and made it A GAME. It's not like they just laid flat, gave up, and made the bench played the whole 2nd half (garbage mins). The players really gave their effort to win this game.

HEART + DETERMANTION = THE SACRARAMENTO KINGS

Actually, despite the slow start (rusty), they continued taking shots and causing TO's on defensive end and grabbing boards (39 to Portland's 40, 21 of them offensive!). If either Peja or Cuttino had come thru with even a nominal amount of shots made (they were 5-20), then we win. But neither gave up, thus the late 3's in the final seconds.

EDIT: Okay, just saw your post taking back your statement Bballkingsrock. ;)
I will not take mine back though (little lessons in life stink, huh?) Kudos.

Don't fold like a cheap suit, support your posistion, WHY did you feel that? Because the starters who had missed games came back rusty and you didn't think they would? Because you thought we would waltz into a place we have had very little success over the years, even with a dominating team, working everyone back and get the easy win? I am curious about your reasoning

No I actually didn't really like what I said. Thats why I took it back. I would back it up, but i don't like my reason no more.

Hey, I'm guessing it was sheer disappointment in the loss, they struggled back last night...why not tonight? I knew they would have trouble with Portland, since I know the history (like Kingsgurl and VF), so that cut into my ability to be too disappointed. Plus, we (Kingsgurl, VF and myself) very likely have some years on ya, kiddo! (Experience = knowledge)... :p

Fair enough. I think what we forget is these guys haven't been able to practice, not have they been able to run, given the TYPE of injuries they had.

Bottom line, the Kings lost this game in the first quarter. They just couldn't come back all the way. Hopefully the Kings can build on the last three quarters of this game b/c they started to get it going.

Bball - You got to know when to think first and post later. You'll learn, grasshopper.

Woo hoo, best news I've heard all day: This is the last 4 games in 5 nights for the year!...(well I think that's what I've heard).

Tonight was a stange night. 3 players coming back, the team a little out of sync, BUT they only get outrebounded by 1, something like 30 assists to 10 (?) turnovers, missed only less than a handful of FT's, Mike Bibby going crazy and Webber with a triple double yet, they lose is a game in which they never led. I'll live with it. With those 3 pieces coming back and stuggling as much as they did from the field and still having a chance to win, its an 82 game season and 82 reasons not to get worked up win, lose or draw.

just got back from the game:( . what a weak effort tonight. absolutely no defense. i thought with everyone back that it would be closer. but when you play no d and just rely on scoring then you have to make shots. bibby had a great offensive night but it would be nice for him to play some defense once in awhile. peja's shot wasn't there and mobley and webber were rusty as well. i don't understand why it's so tough to beat the blazers. damon stoudamire killed us tonight. a blazer fan told me, "don't count on the 'queens' winning the title this year" my response was, "yeah, the jailblazers are going real far."

well, we can't win 'em all

go kings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bummer. I go to a game and no win, but that heart thing showed up again.

Webber had the worst triple double of all-time (if there is such a thing)

Bibby was a great offensive weapon, but DS destroyed him. Barnes was impressive.

We outplayed them the last three quarters. Too bad we came out rusty.

Just my observations.
