Kings @ Blazers Game Thread

Ewww... I just noticed, Kings have 2 offensive rebounds this game, one by Brad and one by Cisco (Aldridge alone has 4).

I'm surprised we even managed to score 70. Martin's doing nothing, the rest are doing nothing, portland is shooting crap, and they're still up.

I don't care how we do this year but we have couple of nice pieces for the future. Theus has shown that he can develop a team and players. regardless if we win or lose today, the fact we're showing heart is a million times more encouraging than anything musselmen ever gave us.

In Theus/petrie we trust!!!

Brandon Roy is the goods. So is LaMarcus Aldridge... If Oden is anywhere in the same time zone as the hype, I think you can count on some titles in Rip City.

Francisco has been good tonight.. What are you talking about

I'm talking about a player who does something right and within seconds undoes the right by having a momentary brain freeze. I'm talking about a player who seems to forget there are four OTHER players on the court and wants to do it all himself. He is frustrating beyond belief because when the going gets tough, Garcia goes nuts.

There is no "I" in team but there certainly is one in "Garcia" and it's very aggravating.

Yes, Garcia can be very, very good but he can also suck the momentum out of a team by doing dumb things WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT JASON WILLIAMS DID, which is why I used the comparison.

Cisco (singing): "If I only had a brain."
Bibby: "A heart."
Watkins: "A home."
Miller: "Da noive."

(Moore should have gone along and gotten some hands.)

Man we got screweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed by the refs tonight. They completely botched just about every call in the final minute to give the blazers the win.

Give him a break, will ya ... He still makes dumb turnovers, but he does more good than bad. And tonight, as in the previous game, he was very good.. Don't forget he's still learning the game :)

Sure. As you said about Kevin night before last, "Let's just use the young/unexperienced excuse for now, and we'll see whee that takes us"

Cisco turns 26 next month. He should be approaching peak form right about now.

Why in the freaking world didn't J_Will get a single minute tonight while we were abused by Aldridge?

That was pretty sad, wasn't it? He plus Watkins and Hawes got a combined 3 minutes tonight. Meanwhile, Aldridge missed his career high by 2 points.

Garcia isn't even close the one that should carry any blame on his shoulders. Try this on for size. Mikki Moore, Brad Miller, Kenny Thomas played a combined 78 min and got 7 reb between them. Meanwhile Kevin Martin played 37 min and got 7 reb himself. If Theus continues to play this frontcourt we will not win 20 ****ing games this year. Moore had 0 rebounds as the starting PF.

Time for our traditional post-loss Derrick Rose pic!

Because this ORG still believes we can make the playoffs and don't need a rebuild...yet.

Hawes played under 3 minutes...WHY? -_-

Wish we would commit to a rebuild already!!!

I'm not so sure Jwill would be the answer to Aldridge. A lot of his points came from shots outside the paint and if you make Jwill go out to guard Aldridge then there goes the rest of the defense and the rebounding. As for the calls, I was watching the Portland feed so they made it seem like a lot of the calls the refs were giving were against Portland... which looked quite true on the replays. But the last play was just dumb at first I thought Garcia had been fouled and I was like YAY then huh Travis outlaw fouled by garcia. But yes Garcia did screw up with the offensive foul.

I don't mind losing, but I want to see Kevin doing well. The last few games he's really been very very average.

I honestly think that Geoff/Maloofs dont want to ever 'tank' per say, all in the name of a Trailblazer-esq rebuilding time, but I think that they have acknowledged that we are rebuilding, and I think by the trading deadline, Bibby will be gone, hopefully for a pick and expirings, or other young talents...next year will resemble more of a rebuild, than this. I just think that we've torn down almost all we can for right now, no one wants Brad, no one wants Kenny, no one wants Shareef..,but come trading deadline time, tick...tick...tick...tick...
Oh, and if you read the interview with Petrie in Tuesday's Bee, Geoff acknowledged the rebuilding has started, pretty much.

Your absolutely right, alot of kings fans (well, any fan) including myself get impatient and want petrie to make the mircacle moves that he made back in 98 but what some people dont realize is its just not the same situation.

Not even close really, where is the capspace like we had in 98? Nonexistent. That was the main reason IMO (besides petrie being a smart guy) that petrie was able to pull off the magic that he did... like adding Vlade divac in free agency for example. NO ONE wants any of our guys with bad contracts right now and i dont think any team ever will. The reality is were stuck with brad, reef and Kenny (Ugh) for about three more years.

Its unfortunate but whether or not petrie acknowledged the fact that we are rebuilding doesnt matter because no matter what is going on in his head, were stuck.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure that one out, myself. I mean, I understand Reggie wanting to sort of go small at times to create mismatches...but to do that just for the sake of doing it, when you have Justin on the bench who could have obviously done a much more admirable job of defending Aldridge and Pryzbilla than Bad Brad and K-9. Oh yeah, I've started calling him that, kinda like the Bears fans with Rex Grossman...they have Good Rex and Bad Rex...we have Good Brad(rare), and Bad Brad.

I don't think we have any power forward on this team that could have done anything with Aldridge and that means the ones that played and the ones on the bench. It is a major hole on this team and I'm not sure what the solution is unless Bibby is traded for a pf. I almost don't want to lose Bibby because the team is directionless without Udrih on the court and as it is, Udrih is young and has almost no experience. Things are in a real mess and I don't see an obvious quick fix.

I think Mikki is the best pf on the team and that says exactly what it sounds like. :(

Don't go there about the refs. It sounds like whining. The refs don't decide the game. The Kings put themselves in a position to lose and that's what happened
