[Game] Kings at Hornets 11/15/10 Game Thread

That needs an explanation. You hate enemies, you hate people who hurt you, or scare you, or who steal your girlfriend. You generally don't hate incompetent people.

Watching them is stupid and a waste of time and very frustrating, but they are my team and I stick by them because I'm loyal and they keep getting my hopes up. I am so sick of seeing them blow leads and fall apart towards the end of games. They drive me nuts. I don't personally hate the players or anything, but as a whole and their brand of basketball is just very frustrating and pisses me off to watch them.

No explanation required. With the exception of the Wizards game, watch our last 15 games. I love the Kings but I completely understand the sentiment.

At this point, there is plenty of blame to go around. Westphal playing Luther Head like he has ANY answers is asinine. Head is dead from the neck up! Total refuge cast away by other NBA teams who saw the same thing we see every night. Hopelessly out of control, no defensive ability, and a jumpshot that is best described as pathetic. But Head isnt the only reason for these collapses. The whole team tightens up when the other team starts turning up the defensive pressure. In the 3rd and 4th quarters, other teams know that the Kings do not have the confidence to win games. They dont have a coach that can put in the right combination to help hold or get a lead. The players ALL tighten up and miss shots and defensive assignments. It is like watching the keystone cops! There is NO CURE for what ails the Kings. They have to find the strength WITHIN to start putting fourth better effort in the second half of games and making the other teams run less, and they make a run of their own to stretch the lead back out. Right now, they do not have a player who can be relied upon to get a tough shot when they need one. The Hornets had Chris Paul. He hit every siginficant shot down the stretch and they won the game. They have more talent than the Kings do. Again, a lack of talent equals LOSSES. If Petrie does not make roster changes to this group, this is exactly what we are going to see the rest of the year. A team that can sometimes get out to a small lead, only to give it all back because they KNOW they are not good enough to compete. The PROBLEM lies in the GM and the Front Office. If no more talent is brought in to help this team, they they are losers. Plain and Simple. A team of mismatched losers who are unable to come together and fight for a win down the stretch. No go to guy and the end of games to preserve the lead. They got NOTHING! I dont know why I even watch anymored :-(

We dont have a go-to player.

Reke showed some Go-to potential last season, but he's hurting and playing poorly (although, going by the stats he did alright tonight) so we cant rely on him. Maybe in a few seasons we can throw it inside to Cuz, or kick it to Omri on the perimeter for a spot up 3, but neither of those guys are there yet.

The FO needs to spend, but I dont think anyone will want to sign here. It might be time to ship off some of our stockpiled youth for a legit vet. We have some assets. I think Petrie has to start testing the water (if he hasnt already).

Also, we need a knew coach. I'll thank Westphal for getting us another top 5 pick, but two is enough out of one HC.

This is where jsut watchign the boxscore isn't enoguh sometimes -- one of the remarkable items of today's game was that Reke was back, and very much the goto guy, for about 3/4 here. And even when eh came u short int eh 4th it did not feel like the same sluggish settling -- it felt like the Hornets took him way with incredible pressure.

The truth is anyway that you don't sign "goto guys" in free agency,. Not if you are Sacramento. You sign support players, maybe a third pbest player type of guy. But we aren't going to sign LeBron. With this game tonight both reke and Cousins have started to flash that stuff here and there, just going to take time. As much as that's a problem, I am actually more concerend abou why the other guys can't seem to function cohesively for long stretches.

Westphal needs to threaten to cut some players playing time if they don't play well. We have a deep team and he seems to play some players regardless if they're playing good or not (Landry for one). Call these people out and say smarten up or you're gonna be sitting next to me. If that doesn't inspire the players to play better, it'll at least show them he's not afraid to get in their face.

This of course is mainly intended to be used towards the veterans. Young players make mistakes, that's just how it is

What better team than our beloved Kings to reach within ones soul, grasp it and squeeze the life out of it until you don't care. This one makes me not want to tolerate watching them for a little bit, now...I say this, but it will be harder said than done. I think I will try to make it a priority that whenever we get down by 12+ points, to just turn the game off because more likely than not, it's going to end up a loss.

Even when we had the huge lead i didn't get that excited... i could just feel the hornets we're going to suck us back in.

Added the fact they shouted "AND ONE" every single time they did anything.. i just wasn't feeling that happy.

Can someone explain to me, why we so often run this play: Pass to Landry 18ft away. He holds the ball, pump fakes, pump fakes. No one is near the rim to get a rebound. And then we have our PF taking a long jumpshot, with not a soul in position to rebound the ball. Are we seriously, seriously, I mean really no joke, making our offense dependent on a 6'9 PF shooting jumpshots from 18ft, and that confident that we're not even prepared to rebound the ball?

Which team in the league actually has success relying on their PF shooting jumpers off ISO plays on a regular basis? And for the record, none of our big guys can finish around the rim strong. When our bigs get the ball inside, we get dunks about 1 time out of a 100.

Even Dalembert was forced to drive to the basket from a long way out a couple of times... i can't think that is a designed play.

"Get the ball to sammy, clear it out and let him dazzle!"
