Kings 2011 Pre-Draft Workouts (videos)

Well I thought Jimmer's college highlights where impressive. The work out video is less so. He is a good shooter. Not that much else impressive about him. He's small and can't dunk.

He's about 6'2''. Hardly small for the PG position. And he can dunk. Not that that's relevant in any way, shape or form when it comes to being a good player. It's a bizarre thing to come out with.

You're ot impressed because of one single video, where he didn't dunk? You must be kidding. He has an entire body of work to look at regarding his years at BYU, and you're basing whether he's an impressive player, and could or couldn't fit well with us, on a single video? So if he jumped over a car ala Griffin, and threw down something nasty, that would completely change your opinion on him, discounting his entire college career?

Hurley couldn't shoot for jack from what I remember. He had a funky looking jumpshot. Hurley was more of a "pure" pg than Jimmer.

Yeah. Hurley had a terrible jumper. It was a line drive shot that didn't go in often. He had all the intangibles, was a leader, a winner etc but he was def not known for his shooting.

I remember he had a shoe commercial out here though. It was for a shoe company called ITZ which stood for In The Zone. lol

Did he get injured again?

In the Jimmer interview Jimmer was asked whether he had any connections with the Kings players. He said not really, but he had played with Tyreke at the USA select, even though Tyreke got a little injured there. (4:18)

BTW just in case anyone wants to start an argument, I was kidding bout Tyreke always being injured. Just pointing out that it's funny that Tyreke was injured at another gathering of players (just like with Team USA etc)

Actually he can dunk. Done it a few times in college. But does that really matter? There are countless guys who can dunk and none of them have a fraction of Fredette's skills and won't get a sniff of pro basketball.

Yep, I've seen 6'2" Fredette dunk a few times in college and more in pre-game layup drills. Steve Nash 6'3" definitely could never dunk and a lot was made back in the day about NBA HOFer Bill Bradley 6'5" not being able to dunk. Of course, then there's Brent Barry 6'6" of NBA dunk contest champion fame - oh, never mind.

QUOTE=Fear the Putin;833606]did stockton ever dunk?[/QUOTE]

We're deep into TDOS with this dunk nonsense it seems. I never saw Stockton dunk so I assume like Nash he never could. Also never saw Pooh Jeter dunk and for sure he's not another Nate Robinson.

Spud Webb at 5'7" dunked in a Kings game and brought down the house. Err, not literally but people applauded vigorously and made loud noises of appreciation. Mitch Richmond said he first dunked as a 9th grader but I don't recall him dunking in a game.

The "Mitch Richmond three" became a part of local parlance.

TDOS!

Mitch dunked quite a few times in games. Mostly in his early GSW days and a handful of times with the Kings. TDOS

Regardless if he can dunk or not, I was not that impressed with him. Most importantly he doesn't look all that quick or athletic in the video. Everyone wants to make fun of the dunk comment even though the guy never even tried to dunk. You would think he would do it just to show his ability. I think he is a second round pick project at this point. I doubt we select him without trading way down.

I hope you're being sarcastic.

Dunking is not everything ;) And I'm pretty sure every player in the NBA can dunk (except probably 5'5 Earl Boykins).

Spud won the NBA slam dunk contest. One of the most spectacular dunk contests ever televised.

Yeah, Hurley wasn't that good a shooter, and he was frail looking when compared to Fredette. Dude could pass the ball though. I'll never forget watching Cal and Duke square off up at Sunnyside on lake Tahoe. Great game. Hurley against Kidd. I was rooting for Cal of course, and should have put my money where my heart was. Damm shame Hurley's career was over before it got started.

You might try watching some actual games. Highlight videos and workout videos are the last thing I would rely on to make a judgement on a player. Which is why I don't comment on international players. Thats all I have on them. Whomever it is, be it Fredette, Walker, or Knight. Beating a 6'8" Tyler Honeycutt off the dribble in a workout, is hardly the same thing as trying to get your shot off, in a real game, with 5 ticks left on the clock and your being guarded by Kobe Bryant. I think the intensity level goes up a few notches. Nothing, and I mean nothing, can recreate what happens in a real game.

So next year, try spending some time college basketball. At least take in the NCAA tourney if nothing else. You might have an entirely different opinion.

Hopefully, your joking. If not, you've lost all credibility. And I'm being kind!

All I can say is I hope Brandon Knight falls to us. If we can't keep our center then we could draft a big man. Other than that we should trade down.
