Kings 2011 Pre-Draft Workouts (videos)

Leonard is Udonis Haslem 2.0, I'm not really impressed. I do think we need a wing defender but not for the 7th pick!

Haslem is a PF, and Leonard is a SF. I don't see the comparison. Haslem by the way is a good defender. By the way, what didn't impress you? How much did you see Leonard play this year. Surely you not going on just the workout!

I don't understand what the purpose of bringing in Burks and Klay Thompson was. We don't need another 2 guard when we have two all ready. It's not like we have another mid first rounder to draft a Klay Thompson and he isn't going to drop to us to 35 so I don't understand bringing in those two :\. As for Leonard, I said it before and I will say it again...YUCK! Oh my god if we draft this guy wasting a seventh pick on him. I don't care that he can play defense or has the ability to, he can't do much of anything else and no...we don't need anymore rebounding so please stop with the rebounding aspect of his game.

In case we trade down?

Yeah, although I do think that a lot like Gerald plays PF at times, Leonard will as well in a smaller quicker lineup. He needs to get bigger and stronger though because in college he wasn't the greatest when guarding the post.

Its possible that the Kings could have a trade in the works to aquire another pick. It never hurts to cover all your bases.

But is Petrie really known to acquire multiple first rounders on draft day? Sure maybe at the deadline he did that with Reke and Casspi but I don't really re call him getting first rounders with the draft so close.

His Ego

Leonard thinks he can guard any position 1-4, which he allegedly said in an interview. Then by his own words he considers himself a tweener forward, similar in skillset and appearance to an Udonis Haslem, based on his obvious defensive talents. For a #7 pick, a guy that will have teams sag on him on the offensive end of the floor. No thank you.

Chris Singleton also said he could guard all four positions. That doesn't mean either of them say they can play all four positions. Personally I admire both players confidence. But both players will be SF's in the NBA. Just because a player has the ability to guard several positions, it doesn't mean he doesn't have a true position. Had Leonard gone to a different school that had some bigs on the roster, he wouldn't have been forced to play out of position. Same thing happened to Gerald Wallace. He was forced to play center. Once in the NBA, he moved to his natrual position of SF.

Battier is a SF, but there are plenty of times he guards the other teams SG. Not because he's a tweener, but because he has great defensive ability. And by the way. I wouldn't want a player on my team that didn't have a big ego. You think any of the great players didn't have big ego's? All good players are loaded with confidence. When Barkley was asked by a reporter, who was the one player in the NBA that could guard him and stop him. He said no one! Rick Barrys answer to a similar question was that no one could stop him from scoring the ball. That all any player could do was make him work harder, but they couldn't stop him.

Quandry: defender that can't shoot, or shooter that can't defend?

BY shooter that can't defend, I think you're referring to Jimmer. I don't think he's as bad a defender as people say. From all his workouts, I haven't heard anything about him being killed on defense (and he's already gone up against Walker who is as quick as they come). Besides he's going to be coming of the bench, so his defense is not that big of a deal since he likely won't be guarding the other team's starting star pg.
