Keon Ellis

Of all the dumb things I've seen this franchise do over the years, trading Keon Ellis might be the dumbest. Scott Perry could have signed him to a new deal over the summer but made signing 32 year old journeyman PG Dennis Schröder to a 3 year deal his priority instead. Ellis is a career 42% three point shooter and tied with Sabonis for the best defensive rating on the team the past two seasons yet Doug Christie continues to play him starter's minutes only as a last resort. Keon and Keegan should be the foundation of this team for the next decade but we're just going to give this guy away for a pick in the 20s (most likely) and hope the fans aren't paying attention? Why? Because we're thrilled that we actually have a player other teams are calling us about for once? Everyone in this front office deserves to be fired over this.

Am I missing something? Is there a done deal or something close happening?

There was a lakers reporter/insider on X saying he thinks Monk and Ellis to the Lakers is close. No idea how legit it is.

I've been away from the news for a few days so didn't see the Monk/Ellis Lakers rumor until this morning. Also I listened to Scott Perry's recent interview and was not impressed. The guy is a politician, I don't trust his basketball acumen. The Schröder over Ellis decision already happened and we can see from the contract situation and playing time distribution who this Kings front office is actually committed to. It's preposterous to me that we're even having trade conversations with him. When I look up and down this roster I see only 6 players I would try to keep and Ellis is #2 on that list.

It’s not even a reporter lol. It’s literally just some Lakers meme account that reposted a fake Bleacher Report account to “back up” its claim
