Kenny Thomas Doesn't Care If He Starts!...

On my way to work today i was listening to 1140, they played an interview from yesterday and it was Kenny Thomas talking about how he is loving what Muss is doing and how he totally respects him... another huge thing that stood out was that he said it doesn't matter to him if he starts or not and that he totally trusts Coach Musselman's decisions. He sounded completely honest and in a great mood, i have never heard him sound so happy!

Honestly, my main complaint against K9 is his attitude; so for him to start the season with a good attitude makes me extremely hopeful for the rest of the season.

Totally agree about the attitude, its easy to pick on his game or his paycheck but neither of them are all that bad. He's a useful player and that's more than you can say about a lot of bad contracts.

And don't forget he's strong as an OX. Right on Kenny!

what he says, and what he truly feels, could be 2 entirely different things.

Good point...
but to tell you the truth, His enthusiasm sounded genuine and made me fell that he wants to win and will do what ever it takes to win, even if it takes coming off the bench. Completely changed my point of view of KT.

It would be hilarious if he just said that because he found out he just got the starting job

I wouldn't go that far. It was a short clip but he didn't come off quite so "I don't mind waving a towel at the start of a game"-ish to me as it did to you. Was his attitude better? Somewhat. Does he really feel that way? I doubt it. I don't think he expects to be on the bench at the start of a game. Either he knows he's the starter and is saying nice things, or he doesn't know and is trying to look like a good "team" guy. I just didn't get too warm and fuzzy over what I heard....

Two different takes on it...
I completely respect your skepticism Warhawk and BMiller, you have good reason. but coming from someone who has wanted KT traded since the start of his cry baby antics, I still believe it was honest and that Mussleman seems to have more control over the situation.

Maybe KT finally realizes that he will never be an All Star Starting PF but could very well be 6th man of the year.... hmm.

With the right attitude Kenny could be a really great spark as a 6th man off the bench. Too bad when he doesn't start he doesn't seem to care as much and plays like ****.

Regardless of what anyone says Shareef is the better player and should be starting.

With Muss as the coach, I think he can get K9 and SAR to coexist and will get more out of a non starting K9 then Adelman did. I'd really like to think that if K9 feels he is an important part of the team and is being used, I feel he could come off the bench. It would sure take a huge ego let down for him, but I think Muss can get that out of him. I really feel that his lack of performance off the bench was a lot more attitude than anything else, but he does seem to need to be around starters to get his points, so I don't totally know? He is quick and with a nice pass from Brad or Mike he gets his hoop.

I really want to see us use SAR and K9 based on matchups and both to accept their roles here. Maybe this way we can come close to both of them sharing the starting role, I know that you want to build unity with the team and keep the group together, but a revolving PF postion might not be all that bad, they both bring very different things to the table (K9 in quickness and rebounding) (SAR in defending, creating his own points by post up moves etc, lacks rebounding, but should be better now after the injury plagued last season). SAR is more taylored towards coming off the bench and not needing to be around starters to get his points because he doesn't need to be feed the ball like K9 that is much more opporunistic, where SAR will post up and back his guy into the basket and is also a better defender. I think SAR is the better player, it's just now convincing him that he is our 6th man and a very important part of winning to this team.

Am I the only one who sees this as pretty obvious spin control to counteract the "fight" between KT and SAR?

Sorry, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm happy to hear him at least saying the right thing. I lean towards KT getting the starting slot in general, if only for his rebounding ability. Who else is going to do it?

Good for Kenny!

He should still start.

actually i would say that if both players gave 100 percent off the bench, then id rather have sar start, but since kt might pout a wee bit, then id rather see sar come off the bench and act like a leader and take it like a man, and not let it hurt his performance

I consider it unfair to SAR if he gets benched because poor KT is sad and pouting about not starting. I want the best complement and the most reliable PF to be starting, not because one gets his feelings hurt when he doesn't start.

Reef IS the better player.

That he should necessarily start because of that alone is not so evident. Things like balance matter, and everybody needs a roleplayer or two to balance things out. If Reef starts, nobody gets the shots they want, and we are awful on the glass. If Kenny starts, Mike, Ron, Brad and Kevin have more shots to divy, and maybe we can at least keep it close on the glass. Meanwhile Reef brings punch to what is otherwise a punchless bench that could easily, sans Reef, have not a single guy score 7ppg.

Again, 90% of your quote reminds me of OJ Simpson LOL :D

Good idea, since those posts are both off topic and borderline offensive to some. Why go there?

Cause I'm at work and I'm bored. Figured I'd get a few good chuckles?

But like VF21 said, I agree that this is only to simmer the fire down between the two after being in the Sacbee yesterday. There, now I'm on topic :)

ya reef is but the production u get out of the combo kt off the bench sar starting, proabbly wont be as good as the overall prouction of kt starting and sar off the bench. obvously sar is a better player not only did he show it in the post season but his numbers b4 he got injured were better than kennys when he was starting, and his carrier stats speek for themself
