Kara on IR

#1
The Sacramento Monarchs changed the status of Kara Lawson to Injured and the status of Sui Fei Fei to Active.

Does this mean that Kara won't/can't be used during the first round of the playoffs? Should be interesting to see if Coach Whiz actually lets the Chinese players off the bench during our infamous offensive breakdowns during games.

If it works like the NBA, it only means shes on IR for the regular season. I'm sure she'll be on the Playoff roster, if they figure she'll be back for any of the playoffs.

I think it is like Kenna says and from what was heard from Kara on Monarchs Talk the day after, the injury doesn't seem to serious. She was already cleared to at least shoot the basketball, but not practice and she has had the same injury on the same shoulder before which acording to the doctors/trainers etc.., is a good thing and can help it heal quicker.

The Sun won tonight, so we can not get home court advantage from them (if we meet in the finals). So, my guess is that Whiz put Kara on the IR for the final regular season game so he would have Fei Fei available to play. I am hoping he will rest the starters as much as possible and let the bench players log most of the minutes.

yep it's like the NBA..

Injured List - Each WNBA team may have up to two players on its Injured List at any time during the season. And player on the Active List who suffers from an injury that, in the judgement of a physician designated by the team, prevents her from rendering playing services may, subject to league approval, be transferred to the Injured List. The Injured List shall only exist during the regular season. Any player placed on the Injured List and replaced on the Active List will not be restored to the Active List until at least two consecutive regular season games have been played by her team after the time she was transferred to the Injured List (unless less than three games remain int her regular season, in which case the player must remain on the Injured List for the remainder of the regular season).
