Right now we're tied with NY and Minny for 9th/10th/11th pick, but tonight NY plays the Cavs, and Minny plays Utah, so the chances that we'll be in sole possession of the 11th lottery slot, before the night is over, are excellent.

Looking at draftexpress.com's predictions, I see that every guy you mention above is gone by the 8th pick. They have: (4) Horford, (5) Noah, (6) Hawes, (7) Jianlian, (8) Hibbert. And hardly any site has any of those guys falling out of the top 10, even if they still have Julian Wright on their list.

Some lowered expectations may be in order.

Obviously a lot depends on us gaining more ground and it's probably moot since Noah will likely be gone by then too.
 
IMO I view Joakim Noah as a cross between Varejao and Tayshaun Prince. I think he'll have about the same impact on the court as Tayshaun does. THe Kings will be picking somewhere between 1-3 and 7-14 IMO depending how the last 3 weeks play out. I think we'll end up at 9 or 10 personally.

With that said...I WOULD NOT spend a pick from 1-3 on Noah. There's just no way...but if his stock dropped down to 7-10 then surely I think he's the no brainer pick for us. He'd be a really good fit next to Brad Miller in the upcoming season and bring a lot of energy, hustle and athleticism w/shot blocking to the front court...EVERYTHING we've been crying for this season.

However, I think Noah will go somewhere between 5-8 personally. I really think Darrell Arthur will be the best late lotto pick in this draft if he declares and I think he might with Wright staying in school.

HERE, HERE. Love him, absolutely love Noah. Has tremendous upside. And based on the comment here on this board, he is an absolutely polarizing figure. Kind of like a certain #4 that used to play here in Sac. That plus his energy alone would make the Kings interesting again.

Huh? For Corey Brewer maybe. Noah had a decent (not great) night against UCLA's overmatched frontline that also surrendered a career game to Richard. I guess he showed he can score on putbacks and tip-dunks, which is neat. He pounded his chest alot, which is cool I guess. I still do not see anything out of this kid's game that suggests anything more than a glorified sixth man. Quite frankly, if his personal story and personality were not such as they are, I don't think he'd really be on anyone's radar as a lottery pick.

I just think you can get his skill set for a lot cheaper than a lottery pick. The other guy's dad won't be Yannick Noah, but he'll probably be just as good of an "energy" 6th man.
 
I like Roy Hibbert more than Noah. They're both shotblockers but Hibbert's a better passer and a better post scorer with a better mid range J.

Did you read the whole thread? Did you check the video? My "scoreboard" comment was merely an indication that "posterizing" someone kind of loses its importance when that guy is going on to the NCAA finals and your team isn't...

I see a spark in him which leads me to really believe that with the right coach and teammates, Joakim Noah could end up being something pretty special.
 
There are a lot of good players out there. I've just taken a shine to Noah. I think it's similar to the feeling Kingsgurl had the first time she saw Kevin Martin. It's a hunch...

Of course, if Joakim ends up a superstar I'm going to claim complete credit for it.

I had the same "hunch" when the Chargers drafted Ladainian Tomlinson.

Then again, I also had it when Ryan Leaf joined the Chargers ... so I guess I'm hit and miss as hunches go.

Still, I agree VF, having Martin and Noah onboard to start our rebuild is causing my "hunch" meter to beep loudly.
 
I don't like him. He's going to get moved around in the post like a feather. He won't get the position that he needs on offense to score, and on defense he's too light to stop other centers from getting position in the post. The only way a guy like Noah can be a very good pro is if he's a very good outside shooter, which he isn't.

Be careful what you wish for. Having had to suffer through a full season of pathetic, lifeless Kings it is very easy to fall in love with a young, exhuberant bundle of energy, i.e. Noah. I am not gonna knock the guy with such great attitude and spirit, but I am pretty certain that even if we pick 6th, 7th or even 8th we can pick up better all round players then Noah.

Then again, if he does become a superstar I'll be first to give you the credit.
 
All I said was that I like his enthusiasm, energy, etc. He has fun out there...and I like watching a player have fun and do well.

Sorry, but some of you seem to take these random "personnel moves" musings way too seriously...

Not to sound fickle, but after watching the NCAA Championship game, I'm changing my preference Horford over Noah.

... Maybe it's my capriciousness that's kept me out of the GM ranks.

Still like Noah though, even if he just becomes a decent role player.
 
I didn't expect to see Noah shine but I did see hustle and enthusiasm, on and off the court. And I really admire that in a player. I still like him... ;)

Honestly, I'd rather have Horford on the Kings then Noah, but that's just me.

I didn't like his moronic comments after winning the championship. I'm not sure how much that means, other than he's seems to be kind of a jerk. Maybe its just youth. And many great NBA players are jerks. Look at Kobe.

Anyway, in making a pick, I'd also take Horford first. He seems stronger, more conistent, more upside.

But he'll probably go at 3 or 4 and this morning we're tied for 7th.
 
It's looking more and more like this guy is going to fall into our laps if we have the 9th, or 10th pick.....
 
I'm wondering if we could package Garcia and our lower pick (Noah) for Phx's higher pick (Horford) as I think that Noah would be a good fit for the Suns, but they could draft a better player at their current spot.
