JJ Redick?

Out: Landry, Head, Wright
In: Redick and 3 million cash

I’m not a huge JJ Redick fan, but he fits the profile of a player that would fit well next to Tyreke. He gives us outside shooting and his contract is serviceable. With Redick and Beno helping Tyreke and a Patty Mills or better free agent (just a profile mind you – actually a PG, pushes tempo, 3 point shooting, ect.) You’d have a pretty serviceable group – which wouldn’t really require you to further define Tyreke’s position. Start Evans and Redick. Bring Beno off the bench and have another 3 point shooter/pg for options.

Landry is probably walking this summer. He hasn’t set the world on fire, and its uncertain whether he’d even want to come back. Is Redick the final piece – no. Do the Kings get something for a player that will either walk or be overpaid, yes. Thus, I throw it out there.

Orlando likes him and he provides a lot of shooting to give Dwight space, but they might have to make a move. By all accounts, they will probably start Nelson, Arenas, Richardson, Hedo, and Howard. Bass is there, but he’s pretty much their reserve center and PF at this point because the Magic are very very light on post guys. While Nelson will sit more, Magic aren’t dealing him and handing the keys full time to Arenas at point. There aren’t a lot of minutes for Redick, and Orlando is going to pay a ton of tax. They will wait to see how it fits, but they might have to sell off Redick.

Orlando waives the other trash we give them. Landry gives them a backup PF, an actual PF, and some low post scoring when Howard occasionally rests. Moreover, Orlando lets Landry walk in the summer, and can either use the 7 million in Redick saving to resign Richardson … or if things blow up (with Gil and Hedo, it could) they could let Richardson and Landry walk for some pretty serious cap relief.

Finally, between the Bulls and the Jazz, Orlando can’t really trade Redick to most of the teams that would want him. Accordingly, sending him far away and out of the playoffs might be very appealing.

And the bargain bin backcourt above is the worst case. If you don't love Redick as starter - I think the Kings will make a big push for Brooks this summer as a free agent and between Brooks, Evans, Redick, and Beno as a 4th guard ... the backcourt is both decent and makes some sense.

I would move Dalembert for Reddick if u could match it up. If Orlando starts clicking they will want a backup C to shore up the defense. JJ makes sense for us and is a reasonable contract.

Yeah I'd do that deal with Dally involved. This season is pretty much over with that deal allows to fill a position of need with Dallys expiring and also gives us a reason to give Whiteside some burn to see what we have in him. I'd also like to see Dally a good guy get a chance at a contender who could definately use his skills.

Redick for Dalembert would make sense for both teams. King's could use Redick's shooting and Magic could use a defensive minded back up center. Redick's contract is a little steep based on his numbers but it's no worse than Beno's

One thing I’m unsure of though. Isn’t Redick basically a combo guard? They already have two of those in Beno and Garcia, do they really need another?

Dalembert makes far more imapct with what he does than JJ Reddick makes with what he does. And he's only a combo guard in that he's a small SG. No PG skills though.

But his shooting, movement off the ball and ability to catch and shoot (sound familiar?) would be very useful playing next to Reke. Overpaid though, but we do have a lot of cap room to spare. He doesn't have much PG skills but can handle the ball well enough to bring it up and run basic plays. From watching him in the past two seasons I'd also say that he generally has quite high bball IQ and makes the right plays, doesn't force things, but I'd understand if your opinion differs from mine here.

Most importantly though, he could frikin teach Tyreke how to hit an outside shot or two. Better basketball anyone?

I'm 50/50 on this trade. While I do would like Redick for his shooting, I don't know if I want to get rid of Dalembert for him though. I know he won't be in our future plans, nor he shouldn't be, but I might prefer getting an expiring for him or just letting him expire.

I like the idea.. Redick is a shooter.. We NEED a shooter. Dalembert isn't even going to be here next year, plus he doesn't help with our offensive woes because we have no range anyway, so players can leave Dalembert and double whichever King wantes to go 1 on 1 (which is almost every play).

I question what team and what season you're watching this year...Kings have a shot at winning when they shoot a decent clip from downtown, they're .0000 when they don't.

I think what Brick is trying to say is we've got shooters, and that makes JJ Reddick not that rare a commodity. What we don't have is inside stoppers, and in that sense Dalembert makes a greater impact on our team than what Reddick can do. However, going forward i think it's a move to consider, because you don't know how much Dalembert is going to cost. At the beginning of this season I thought some vets wouldn't mind playing here next season, with a promising up and coming young team. But ... Sammy D isn't getting that much PT and has to endure a really bad performing team. Not much incentive to stay on there ... You make the trade and you lock up a guy who can contribute to the team with Cousins' and Evans' playing style.

We've got streaky shooters who can't be relied on, though. We don't have any shooters (besides Beno) with NBA finals experience like Redick, who can be relied on in the clutch. I know all shooters can have their slumps and Redick has had one to start this year, but, if the game is on the line and I can choose between Redick taking a 3 or any King's player taking a 3, i'm going with Redick every day and twice on Sunday.

I agree. You can't question his shooting, even though in his first few years and even this season he hasn't be shooting particularly well. But in college ... damnnn!
