JJ Hickson Appreciation Thread?

i didn't even think the trade for him was a gamble on our part. But apparently it was. And we lost.

Shame it didn't work out! I was stunned at just how bad his hands were, i mean look at the quality of DMC's hands, he can basically catch anything, JJ has been the oposite to that, it's like he had ping pong bats for hands.

Dont think. Worse Hands - Hickson or Mikki Moore. Go!

i hate to barge into one of these threads with seemingly ill intent, but there's not much to "appreciate" here. that's not to say that jj hickson won't be a productive player elsewhere, but he rarely got the time in sacramento, and was rarely utilized in a fashion that would benefit his talents when he did get the time. he wasn't a good fit with the kings, and its become apparent to just about everybody...

more than anything, though, the waiving of jj hickson is proof positive that "above the rim" games are overvalued in the nba. the kings brought jj over for his athleticism, and while such a trait is important, its mostly useless if it comes at the sacrifice of skill. and, as has been pointed out, hickson's hands were less-than-capable, which is quite possibly the worst trait conceivable in a big man. i'll take demarcus cousins' hands, and his root-bound game, over high flyers any day of the week...

all of that said, i wish you the best, jj. may you find luck on the waiver wire...

I wish him well. He was a poor fit on this team. Unfortunately, unless Hickson masters some basic fundamentals of the game, he's destined to be bouncing around the league for some time. Good luck amigo, but I doubt you'll be missed here.
