Jimmer playing some backyard ball

I love how they had a camera inside Jimmer's house (or was it "Jimmer's house"?) just waiting for the kids to knock.

OK, maybe I'm a bit cynical, but since when is Jimmer playing hoops in the driveway with some neighborhood kids such a breaking story that A) it get a two-minute spot on the news and B) it warrants a hokey re-creation of the event on film? Did DeMarcus Cousins separate his glass from his aluminum in his recycling last week like a model citizen? I WANT TO KNOW, NEWS10!!

the reality TV generation has grown accustomed to just accepting all that at face value. Yes, everybody argues, makes up, holds intimate conversations, and everything else with a stranger with a camera standing 5ft away and its all perfectly natural and unplanned. Really it is. :p

One thing the Jimmermaniacs and the rest of us can all agree on is that Jimmer appears to be a great guy. Grounded, relatively humble, and all sorts of other good qualities you look for in a superstar. The only teensy weensy problem is that his skill set is not a fit with the needs of this team, and probably not with the NBA in general.

Because of all his good qualities, I hope that second part is wrong. Either way, he's an attractive millionaire celebrity with a great future ahead of him...I'll try not to pity the poor guy too much.

I'd type more, but these darn cameramen keep getting in my way...

Wonderful, thanks for sharing! I thought it was a pretty cute "feel good" piece that probably made a bunch of people smile :)

I really don't get all the harsh negativity toward this story :(

The negativity isn't towards Jimmer, it's towards the brain-death of the media.

I'm sure Jimmer is a great guy. It's nice of him to take an hour out of his day and play with neighborhood kids - probably not anywhere near unprecedented, but nice. I'd happily have a beer with Jimmer (...while he sipped an apple juice or something). But this story did not belong on the news.

There isn't a thing wrong with a feel good story being on the news. We see them every day. Not really sure what all the fuss is about. It's another way to humanize IN A POSITIVE LIGHT a Kings player for the masses who don't know much about the Kings.

No big, folks.

It's a good point... but let's create the distinction here... I'm pretty sure that News10 didn't expect people to believe that the kids knocking on the door was the "actual event". I've known a couple of folks on reality tv before though, and yeah - it's unbelievable what we accept as a candid moment! House Hunters for example... Often the show is recorded months after a home is purchased, and the "not-chosen" homes are sometimes already off of the market at time of filming.... Also, personally new someone who was on Cash Cab. Not 100% phony, but they were set-up to be at the corner in advance by a casting company (didn't know what they were their for... thought they were taking a cab to be in another game show), and had to re-enter the cab a second time when their reaction wasn't "believable". :D The part that is real... The producers didn't arrange a ride back to their place of origin. Once my friend exited the cab she had to walk back to her car!
