Jimmer Fredette

#1
We need a shooter, Jimmer is rated highly and has developed pg skills in recent time originally starting for BYU as a 2 guard. Listed at 6'2 there are questions over his size, ability to make his own shot in the NBA and finishing ability at the basket although he has developed niffty floaters and bank shots in regards to this. Isnt the greatest athlete but is a strong competitor who works hard on defence. Has a decent first step and quick release on his jumper with nba 3 point range

Thoughts?

I love Jimmer, but not on our team. We need shooting, but not at the expense of defense. Aside from resinging Thornton/Dally, our #1 priority should be improving defensively.

That he would. But just like with Hamilton, I want/expect more than just a shooter from a top 10 pick.
I think everyone is going to be surprised by Fredette. I believe he's going to be a lot more athletic than most think. As far as comparing him to Beno, he's a far better outside shooter than Beno. Has just as good a midrange game, and will go through traffic to get to the basket. I'll admit to being biased. I've watched him for over 2 years, and he's one tough gutsy player.

Hamilton is more than a shooter. I will admit that he did have defensive lapses, but I've also seen him play tough defense. So he's capable of being a good defender. I'm not saying we should draft any of these guys. But I do think we should give them their due when they deserve it. I like Hamilton, and to be honest, I don't know why he's not higher on the draft boards.

To me, Fredette is one guy that I can bank on in this draft. He's going to be a knock down shooter. There are going to a lot of busts, but I highly doubt Jimmer will be one.

It's probably foolish to use the 7th pick on a 4th guard. And by 4th, I mean, literally 4th in the depth chart.

I haven't seen him play much, but Beno's midrange game is upper upper tier. If Beno and Garcia were elite defenders; our team would be complete.

I'd love to get him, my dream scenario would be trade the 7th and whatever players for Iggy and the 16th and draft Jimmer with the 16th or trade up a few spots if you need to.

Just incase anyones interested, Jimmer measured out at 6'2'' in shoes, with a 6'4.5'' wingspan and 7.7% bodyfat. Probably came out slightly smaller than people had anticipated.

Naw, I don't think so. I had him at around 6'2 to 6'3" all year. He's certainly tall enough for a point guard. I'll say it again, he's going to surprise a lot of people. I'm not saying we should draft him at 7. I'll leave that to the powers that be. But he's the kind of guy that can come off the bench and give you 12 points in 5 minutes.
