Wonderful, trade a broken down outdoorsman and a PG whos starting to slow for their younger allstar? Huh?

We need to re-build.

I can't stand this statement....rebuild??? Rebuild what?? I'm not interested in rebuilding with a bunch of young guys(we aren't an expansion team) and I want to win now and acquire players that will help us win now.

I didn't pay 5K for season tickets to watch a bunch of young guys run around and play basketball. I paid for them anticipating the Kings would go out and spend the money to do whatever it takes to win.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy. If it was then we would have a title by now and all the bottom teams (including us) wouldn't be at the bottom. All good teams have to rebuild. You're asking for something that's barely possible and highly unlikely. I've accepted that we need to rebuild and so have most other fans...how do you expect we become contenders again without rebuilding?

Along with Larry Birds brain! There is no way they would trade O'Neal and a pick for Bibby and Miller.

you and the maloofs share the same view :) the fact is that we have to rebuild bc if you haven't noticed, we have a aging core that isn't that good.
there are restrictions like the salary cap which limits us from signing great players from other teams.

You got the SF all wrong.. It's Garcia than ??? Let the boy start!

Indiana already has a starting point guard for much less money, and already have way too many big men with awful contracts. For a Pacers team that's trying to get young and scale down, this trade makes no sense. I know we're talking about Larry Bird here, but this has about as much a chance of happening as a Kobe for Ben Gordon trade, straight up.

Indiana has no starting PG at all, but that said we still have little shot, and likely will take no shot at Jermaine. Highly highly unlikely. Obviously cannot be paired with Artest. Just as obviously can't use Artest as part of the bait to get him.

Tinsley isn't a starting point guard? He's far from Bibby, to be certain, but he's an actual point guard who started 72 games at the point. He's about on the same level as a Rafer Alston.

And hence, not a starting PG.

Indy wants him gone bad. And they should. Not only is he sloppy and undisciplined on the court, injury prone, but he and Daniels are the last of their mental midgets off the court. Indiana doesn't want him, but their problem is that its highly doubtful anybody else will want him as a starter either.

unlike most on this board, i agree...but to a point. im not totally sold on blowing up the team and rebuilding from scratch. it seems most posters keep saying trade ALL our stars and just get draft picks and some enders. did the last few champions win with a young team made up of draft picks? heat won after they got shaq, detroit won after sheed was added to a team with wallace and billups. lakers didnt win because of any of their draft picks, it was after kobe developed with shaq but the team wasnt all young drafts. the only team that seemed to win a title after a draft was spurs. but that was with a good team that was a piece away from the title that lucked out with the #1 pick after a bad season due to robinsons injury. i agree that we need to get younger players, but i also dont see any problems with adding a player like jermaine o'neal if there was a chance, which i know there is no chance. im perfectly fine with getting rid of some horrible contracts for drafts or enders if possible, but not totally dismantling the team of good players for a bunch of drafts whom we dont even know will pan out.

I got it!

Martin/#10/ and whatever fillers would get the salary matching right for JO.

And then move Artest to Utah for AK47 so he doesnt clash with O'Neal.

Also...In a crazy multi team trade Petrie shows us he still has it and the Kings end up losing Bibby and taking back Kidd.

PG: Kidd/Price
SG: Salmons/Douby
SF: AK47/Garcia
PF: JO/SAR
C: Miller/Williams

Basically the opposite of rebuilding. But it would be kinda cool to actually have the Kings lead the league in shotblocking!

Do the Kings have a chance of getting JO? Sure. About the same chance I have of winning tonight's lottery. (And I didn't buy any tickets...)

No, what you are sugeesitng is you want to lsoe forever. Or rather never win. And I'm sorry you forked over another 5 grand, I certianly hopped off the wheel this year. But your 5 grand is going to be wasted EVERY year until you, adn Kings management, sucks it up and rebuilds. That is unless you think $5 grand is a great and exciting investement to watch a 44 win 8th seed snorefest.

Great players make great teams. "Good" players (our "stars") are just the support staff. They come and go. And they especially go when the goal of them going is to get one of the great ones.

Its liek trying to put up a house without leveling the ground and putting in a foundation. There is a certain...childishness? to calls for "I want to win now (with a stamp of the foot)" without people apparently realizing that winning takes hard work, planning, and laying of groundwork. It doesn't just happen because you want it to.
