It could be a solid late addition -- when somebody started a thread about picking up undrafted players, of all the undrafted littles McNeal was the guy I was most interested in. Undersized (Douby sized) but he's another tough player and his focus is defense. His big problem is that since he is Douby-sized he's a SG stuck in a PG body and defending bigger SGs could be a problem strengthwise. But this is where having a strong 6'5" defense minded PG could come in handy -- you could bring McNeal in at SG alngside Evans, and have Evans guard the SG while McNeal guarded the PG.
With the sudden obvious change of focus to defense/toughness in these young guys we are tagging, you have to think that there are several former coaches of ours who choked on our softness watching this and thinking, what the hell took you so long Geoff? I'm a little nonplussed myself. Did finishing as the worst defensive team suddenly jar Geoff awake? Or is this just more reactionary stuff -- react to the bad defense last year, but not actually demonstrating any real committment as soon as the immediate crisis is dealt with and we return to mediocrity. The other alternative of course is just that somebody over at Kings' HQ finally forwarded Geoff a link to my stuff and he suddenly saw the light.
