Jason Jones' Kings Beat Coverage in Sac Bee

When it was announced that Sam Amick was leaving The Bee and that noted, rumored "Laker Homer" Jason Jones was taking over, the sentiment including my own was extremely negative.

Let me be the first to say that "SO FAR" I am wrong. I think the short sample I have seen from Jason Jones so far has been pretty fair balanced and interesting to read. In particularly his blogs and articles from this week's NBA Combine has been very informative. He has attempted to answer the questions and inform the readers on what we all are thinking; The personality and the insight of DeMarcus Cousins. I have learned more about that young man the last few days than I knew about him throughout his short Kentucky career. That is all due to the solid work of Jason Jones.

What do you think so far?

I was worried about the coverage as well. I also am pleased so far with the Kings coverage in the Bee. Keep up the good work

So far, so good. I have no complaints about his coverage. Lets see how it goes through the summer. Sam was very good at keeping up the interest of fans with his blogs. Sam's one downfall was that at times he made things about himself more than the subject. But all in all, I really liked Sam.

Keep up the good work Jason.

Amick was much better and posted a lot more stuff. I can't ever accept a Lakers fan as the Kings beat writer. The Bee needs to make a change next season.

Yes, I have to agree that it was kind of blown out of proportions by a certain members of the forum initially who had a problem with JeJones and the emotions kind domino down to other people.

So far he's been better than expected and I really haven't seen him showing laker love with the Kings reports/articles etc. Just keep it up and he'll be fine.

Sam wasn't objective in his reporting. It was very obvious he gave K-Mart special treatment. A beat reporter should be objective at all times. Sam should of never been given the beat in the first place. There were more qualified writers at the Bee such as Scott Howard Cooper and Marty McNeal who were much more versed in the NBA. Although they are no loner with the Bee they were on staff when Sam got the beat. Jason is a much better, much more objective reporter and I enjoy reading his work.

Marty was the kings beat writer before sam. Marty was tired of it so he quit. I believe marty was the beat writer right after re graswich. So marty was kings beat writer from 98 to I believer 2005.
