Heading into Monday night, Jamal Crawford was a combined 12 for 161 on shots from 30 feet or further in his 14-year NBA career. Make that 13 for 162: Running up the court, clock winding down, from 51 feet away, off his right foot (which, here, is the wrong foot) and banked off the backboard because, I mean, why the hell not? This is the stuff that makes Jamal Crawford so perfectly and inescapably Jamal Crawford. Fun, fun, fun. And pretty huge, too. Remember the beginning of the clip — Crawford's 3-ball came right after Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham missed a put-back dunk on the prior play, turning what could have been an 82-all tie heading into the fourth quarter into an 85-80 Los Angeles Clippers lead. And in a game that came down to the final buzzer, with the Wolves clawing back from nine points down in the fourth quarter and getting three chances to tie on their last possession, only to come up short and allow the Clippers to hold on for a 109-107 win , every point mattered ... and especially, perhaps, the ones created from beyond half-court. So shoot it with confidence, Jamal. As if you needed our reminder to do that. Crawford's just the third NBA player to hit a backcourt shot this season, joining all-time great Ray Allen of the Miami Heat and rookie Ben McLemore of the Sacramento Kings, according to NBA.com's stat tool.
