Is it the time to blow it up?

Kings deal:
Brad Miller
Ron Artest

Kings signal their rebuild. It's official. With Bibby out the Kings are looking to get the best return on their vets possible. Young talent/expirings are what's desired. Kings and Lakers are actually good trade partners, even though I hate to admit that. Adding Bynum to HAwes could allow the Kings to have the new "twin towers" grow up together.

Lakers deal:
Andrew Bynum
Kwame Brown
Javaris Crittenten
Sasha Vujacic

The Lakers bring in two players that can help Kobe win now. Kobe and Ron are both favorable to playing with each other based on past comments by each player. They respect each other's games. Brad Miller is an idyllic fit at Center for the triangle offense and is a player who can create space and open looks for Kobe/Ron/Lamar. Lakers can re-sign Vujacic after the Kings waive his ugly trash.

Lakers opening night roster:
C: Brad Miller, Chris Mihm
PF: Lamar Odom, Ronny Turiaf, Brian Cook
SF: Ron Artest, Luke Walton, Vladimir Radmanovic
SG: Kobe Bryant, Maurice Evans, Coby Karl
PG: Derek Fisher, Jordan Farmar

Kings opening night roster:
C: Mikki Moore, Andrew Bynum, Kwame Brown(sucks - but expires), Spencer Hawes(injured)*
PF: Kenny Thomas, Daryl Watkins, SAR(recovering from injury),Justin Williams(out with legal issues)*
SF: John Salmons, Francisco Garcia
SG: Kevin Martin, Quincy Douby
PG: Oriene Greene, Javaris Crittenton, Mike Bibby(injured)*
*Inactive roster

waived: Sasha Vujacic/Mustafa Shakur

I think this deal makes both teams roster look quite a bit better for what they would like to accomplish after having done the deal.

Lakers are improved and can compete at a much HIGHER level with proven vets surrounding Kobe. Top 4-5 in the west now.

Kings rebuild with youth and will look to deal Bibby at the deadline for more expirings/youths/picks.

I like it, I like it a lot. Hopefully we could play some of those centers at power forward, like Bynum and Hawes together, or Bynum and Brown together to keep our weak PFs on the bench.

Yes I'd do that instantly and twice on Sundays. Would be great fun watching a young Bynum/Hawes center tandem all year.

Not sure the Kobe situation is salvagebale for the Lakers at this point though, and you get the feeling you are only going to be able to pry Andrew Bynum from their cold dead hands.

Agreed - no way they let go of Bynum at this point in time for anything, let alone for an aging center with a bad contract.

Is it time to blow it up?

It was blown-up years ago due to natural forces. The big blow was a blown Webber knee, but there was also the blown Vlade back, the blown Peja back (among other ailments), the blown health of Bobby Jackson and Doug Christie. The sum of it all was quite devastating and it will most likely take years of recovery much like New Orleans after Katrina.

Smills, I love it. It does make sense for both teams and it is fairly reasonable. The problem is that the Lakers are too busy drinking in the smell of their own farts (kinda like how they think that yellow is gold). If they wouldn't let Bynum go to bring in Garnett, then methinks they would pupu a deal including Miller and Artest. Maybe there is a chance that it happens if they can't find an adequate deal involving Kobe.

On the Bynum front, I heard that he went through a very rigid offseason workout regime, one that focused on increasing muscle-mass without losing explosiveness. This sounds like something that Hawes should go through, kinda like I was saying a couple months ago. Bynum did not look that explosive last year, and I firmly believe that his offseason workouts are already paying huge dividends. The best part about Hawes relative to Bynum is that he already has all the moves/shots that he will need. All Spencer needs now is a little more bulk and explosiveness.

Did you miss Ron Artest along WITH Brad Miller goes to LAL. That's why they give up Bynum...is for ROn.

Sorry - giving up bynum for a talented head case who has a contract that essentially ends after this year AND the aging center with one of the worst contracts in pro-basketball.

Can't see them doing it.

Would instantly do it, but the Lakers won't. I don't think they'd try to give up both their youth (Bynum and Crittenton), maybe one if you are sincerely push them to do so, but not both. Hawes and Bynum could be a good combination to watch play though, but I doubt Kupchak would want to relinquish Bynum at this point. It's sort of like what BawLa said, to a lesser degree--their obsession with Bynum bordering upon maddening at times, and it's clogging up their arteries, er, I mean, their Kobe...er I mean, their team structure.

As for Ron Artest's actual value, it's really hard to gauge. It seems stable for now, but the green always has the potential to rise to yellow, and even to red depending on the situation. Players like Artest, with the severe red flags and such, even with all their talent, are often hard to trade for equivalent talent.

I would do this deal in a second. I don't think the Laker's will. The facts are, that Artest is a better player than Bryum. Thats as of today. No one knows what the future holds. Bryum is still an unproven player. Artest is not. Nor is Miller. I actually think that this is a fair deal for both teams, with maybe a slight edge to the Lakers. I'm sure that the Lakers wouldn't see it that way though.

lakers wouldnt do it and we'd still be stuck with thomas and reef...

how bout reef/artest/douby for brown/critt/sasha/evans

then waive greene and shakur... at the end of the season only critt will still be on the books...

They wouldn't even trade Odom for him straight up and they value Bynum more than they do Odom. They're only offering Odom for JO at this point, they won't give up Bynum and you think they'll give up Bynum for a player they perceive as a headcase and an atrocious contract in Miller's?
