There's not a lot be be happy about at this point in time. I agree with just about everything mac said. Losses don't bother me, it's how we lose. It's the fact we could play better if coach stopped playing musical chairs with the rotation. It's the fact our offense is actually worse than it was last year, with our main core returning. I'm not talking points on the board, but the way in which the offense flows, recognizing mismatches, having a better understanding of what passes to make and not to make, clock awareness, good shot vs bad shot, etc..
Some of the problem is youth no doubt. But guys aren't playing as well as they did last year, and for the most part, I don't think it's lack of effort. A coach should put his players in a position to succeed, and utilize their strengths. I see the exact opposite. Zero confidence among our players. Guys repeatedly taking shots they shouldn't. Guys being used the wrong way.
So what bothers me isn't the win/loss record, but the fact we're not moving in the right direction with our play and chemistry. Pretend for a minute we took away the scoreboard, and just watched the way this offense is run compared to last year's. Look at how comfortable guys were last year in the offense, and the shots they were getting. We weren't winning, but everything looked much smoother, much more fliud. Guys had a better idea of their spots in the offense and where shots would come from.
However it is early, and I'm not on the fire Westphal bandwagon. Too early for that nonsense. But we can play much better, and UTILIZE our talent more effectively, and still lose, but I'll be happy.
