I am so all over the place in this draft... I looked at my list and have decided that I need a song to listen to in the morning on my Island to get me going for the day. So with my next selection

Start me up- The Rolling Stones (80's)

LoungeLizard is on the clock with Sackings7 AND Kingzrool on deck (since sk7 is still experiencing computer difficulties)...

Actually, I was going to let this go just a little longer before timing him out. I'm not sure if LoungeLizard sent Kingzrool the PM and I'd rather err a little on the side of the participant than on the side of the clock.

:)

Crimson and Clover - Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - 80's

I seriously doubt that I am stealing anybody's pick with this one - and I'm passing some great songs that might garner more votes, but I have got to go with my heart and after all it is MY ipod. I love this song.

I love everything Joan Jett stands for - the way she dresses, the way she swaggers, the way she sneers, the way she pouts, her voice, her attitude, the way she slings her guitar down low.

Consider.. if you played this video in a forest full of trees, and they grew really tall because of the music, and then were chopped down and made into a large quantity of lumber.... well then you would have to call this a serious wood-producing video. Yep. She's my rocker chick dream girl.

I had to have Joan Jett in my selections, too. (Although my reasoning had nothing to do with the logging industry. :p ) It actually came down to a choice between this song and the one I selected. Nice pick.

I've been trying to avoid duplicating my picks from last year for the most part, but this song is still available and I cannot let it slide any further. Talk about a blend of classic and modern...listen to Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas as they do...

And if the real thing don't do the trick
You'd better make up something quick
You're gonna burn, burn, burn, burn burn it to the wick

It's getting to the stage that I think a lot of the songs I want to fill out my playlist are "safe". But so far things have been completely quiet on this band, and I can't believe that's going to last. I had to work through the songs several times before I settled on this one: Barracuda by Heart (released 1977).

Here's a really nice live performance - they have the guitar effects down basically to dead-on the studio cut, which is impressive. Not sure what the graphic is in the middle of the video, but whatever.

Yeah, I thought about holding this pick like I'm doing with my last seventies pick, but instead, I'm going to just turn my Rhapsody on, set it to play everything on random, and go with the first song from the eighties to come up.

Hrmm... First song is from the nineties, and it looks like the second song is from the "oughts." This could take a while.

Okay, first song was from '99, second was from '02, third was from '02, fourth was from '00, fifth was from '73, sixth was from '04, and the next song up is from '95.

A while indeed...

Okay, so #12 came out in '99, #13 came out in '02, #14 came out in '81, but has already been taken (by LoungeLizard), #15 came out in '03, #16 came out in '91, #17 came out in '95, and #18, which is on deck, came out in '97.

This could be harder than I thought...

And, on the twenty-third song, we have a winner:

When Doves Cry - Prince and the Revolution: Purple Rain (1984)

I only have a few minutes, and, like I said before, since my list was on my computer I'm going off the top of my head, so I'll take my favorite Rush song since The Spirit Of Radio was ever so close (that was on my list as well).

Tom Sawyer - Rush - 80's

P.S., Barracuda certainly wouldn't have lasted this long if I was trying not to pick songs taken last year. I'm assuming that's one of the 3 riffs D-Mass was talking about earlier, because that one immediately came to mind for me.

MAGIC MAN - Heart (1976)

[yt=Magic Man - Heart]eZf45FI2qYY[/yt]

It's no secret that Barracuda is my favorite Heart song, but since I picked it last year, I'm going with my second favorite Heart song. It reminds me of a great sketch comedy group from LA who did a hilarious bit to this song. I can't really translate it on here, but trust me...it was funny.

Okay, I am breaking every rule for drafting from the 90's. No grunge bands, no art/death metal, no shiny suit hip hop etc... My last selection from the 90's is me beginning to get instrumental. From my #3 favorite guitarist of all time.

Mario Takes a Walk - Jesse Cook (1996)

This guy will be in town for a concert sponsored by 94.7 fm Friday. I want to go, but no money:(.

I don't know what exactly it is, but I love this song!
