i've been sick folks, and timed out again. sorry for that; before i go for a make-up pick, commish is that a forfeit of a pick?

You're good to go. I'm not going to forfeit picks unless someone totally drops off the face of the cybermap. Any picks not made up, however, by the end of the final round will then be forfeited.

:)

Status is:

Jerryaki and LoungeLizard have make-up picks pending. Kingzrool is up and Francisco d'Anconia is on deck.

I'll be updating the board later tonight, but I wanted to post my pick to keep things rolling...

Faith - George Michaels - 80s

[yt=Faith]viPWb3ieH6o[/yt]

I love this song!

Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze?
Somehow when I was originally making up a list of songs to draft I left this off the list. Not that I forgot it, I just deliberately left it off, and I can't fathom why now. The point when the clear acoustic guitar breaks out of the radio-staticky intro is one of the unforgettable moments in music, ever. For my next selection I choose Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd (released in 1975).

The sniff and clearing of the throat during the static creates this suspense leading up to the acoustic guitar... makes you listen carefully, then that acoustic guitar jumps right out of mid air if your stereo is decent. That whole thing is pure genius. Great pick I love this song.

I'm Your Baby Tonight - Whitney Houston: I'm Your Baby Tonight (1990)

I select another favorite by one of my all-time favorite groups; the originator of power pop:

No Matter What by Badfinger (1970)

Also, if you want to talk about underrated bands, you can start here, with Badfinger. Also, if you want to read a story about how how bad rock and roll management was in the seventies, read their wiki... two of them ending up dead before all was said and done... sad...

99 LUFTBALLOONS - Nena (1983)

[yt=99 Luftballoons - Nena]jQYQTFudrqc[/yt]

I've always liked this song...I could post the English version, but I believe it needs to be in its intended language...especially since the political message doesn't really come through in translation.

Sorry to take so long! I'll fill in with the video, etc. when I get home from work.

My pick is:

Shake Your Booty - K.C. and the Sunshine Band - 70shttp://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=33:fxfixqy0ld0e

I did get sick of a lot of the songs on my desert island ipod last year, but not this one. Since it's still on the board in the 18th round I feel obligated to snatch up the low lying fruit. With my 18th pick I select my last 70s song:

Dream On (1973) Aerosmith
More: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_On_(Aerosmith_song)

Any time I watch somebody try to do this song on any of the TV singing contests, it gives some real appreciation for Steven Tyler's chops. Amazing guy, just amazing.

Listen all of y'all it's a sabotage
Listen all of y'all it's a sabotage
Listen all of y'all it's a sabotage
Listen all of y'all it's a sabotage!

Sabotage - Beastie Boys (1994)

A "monumental" song, per allmusic.

Coupled with, of course, one of the greatest music videos of all time (which I did dress up as for one amazing Halloween):

Great Pick LPKingsfan...a classic!

My next pick has been put off for far too long...Beck, please take your place in my IPOD

Where it's at, Beck, 1996
[yt=Where it's at]5uQ9W4KexnA[/yt]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_It's_At

I saw Beck at the Tibetan Freedom Concert at Golden Gate Park in the summer of 1996 and I loved him. He was awesome. He even "mingled" in the crowd. Good times. This video is the best.

I know our tastes are nowhere near similar, so if you would like to send me at least a couple of picks for the upcoming rounds I can post them for you. Entirely up to you.

Couldn't let Garth Brooks' announcement that he's returning to concert work - weekends in Vegas - go unrecognized.

Here's one of my all-time favorite Garth Brooks hits.

Papa Loved Mama - Garth Brooks - 90s
