OK, I am at work with no youtube access, so this is a blind pick. Anyone remember Laurie Anderson? She was awesome. I am going to pick her colaboration with Peter Gabriel.

This is the Picture (Excellent Birds) - Peter Gabriel featuring Laurie Anderson - 1986

Wow...a very solid run of three songs in front of me, all three of which were on my list. I really thought Yellow Ledbetter was "safe", but so it goes! Since it looks like time to shore up my '70s stuff, I'm going to go with a classic, the kind of song that makes you turn up the car radio and sing your heart out (even if you can't quite hit the notes). Roxanne by The Police, released in April 1978.

Okay, back to the 70's... This song, to me, is the greatest new wave song ever... so weird, so catchy. You MUST watch the 1978 live performance... it's incredible. The B-52's debut album, to me, is just incredible. One of the great albums of all time... but after Ricky Wilson died (guitar player) I stopped enjoying this band as much... it was like two different bands almost.

I select: Rock Lobster by the B-52's (1978)

SLOW RIDE - Foghat (1975)

[yt=Foghat - Slow Ride]GcCNcgoyG_0[/yt]

One of the three greatest guitar riffs to come out of the 70's, IMHO. I can't name the other two since they haven't been picked yet. This song is incredibly simple, but it works so well.

Hey guys: I won't be in town or near a computer when my next pick comes up. Please skip by me and don't wait for the clock if my turn comes up Friday thru Monday. I'll make it up maybe Monday after midnight. Thanks, Mark

I just realized I have not taken a song from my favorite band! I would not know what to do on my Island if I could not listen to at least one of their songs! :D So with my next pick:

Stone Temple Pilots: Vaseline (90's)

I always liked this group. Nice song too. I wish I would have seen them live...

I saw them at Arco many years ago...they were OK. Actually, their best stuff was when they sat on a couch on stage and went acoustic.
I saw them in concert there too! The acoustics are not so great in Arco anyways but I do have to agree that some of the best was back when they were just sitting on the couch!

True...Arco definitely doesn't help a band sound better. I think it was the Meat Puppets who opened for them??

12 1/2 rounds and this classic is still on the board? Incredible!

Billie Jean - Michael Jackson (1982)

And, of course, the legendary live performance with the Moonwalk and the white glove:

Producer Quincy Jones originally wanted the song off Thriller and didn't like the bass line. Goes to show even the greats can be wrong! More, from wikipedia and allmusic.
