This is getting exceedingly difficult for me. All of the music that I am listening to is from 2000 or sooner. I have been DJ ing and that consumes my exposure, I only play newer stuff. This is fun in a way that is different from all of the other members as I have to think back and switch my musical mentality to offer music that is from the right time frame. I do not listen to any of my picks outside of research for the thread. Of course, that is why I will not make it past the first round as usual. Funny that I am most likely the only person in this competition that currently makes people dance.

So should we start calling you Capt. Hook? (Rather obscure reference for some, I'm sure... :p )

I was never a fan of the whole, "I am so depressed" or "Marvin the Marian" grunge rock of the 90's... seemed so odd... I mean seriously, "I am a rock star/millionaire and it makes me so emotionally hurt" just really rubbed me the wrong way... but there were some cool and more well adjusted grunge rock bands out there and this is, hands down, my favorite "Grunge" song. Aggressive? Check. Loud? Check. Dark? Check. Weird? Check. Whiny? NOPE!

I select: Possum Kingdom by the Toadies (1994) off of their album Rubberneck.

Oh no son. I am going to expose you all to the most glitter-fied, lacey, aquanetta using, may as well be callin' them transvestites, hair metal band in the entire world.

And when I say the world, I mean I dipped into Japan to find these dudes. This is my novelty pick, because I can't understand it, and it will make you go :eek::eek: Probably all at once. They were very popular over there in Japan, having over 20 million albums sold.

Don't watch this with anyone who respects you in the room, even though it's not offensive. They will question everything about you. It's speed metal though, so it does sound cool.

Kurenai - X Japan (1989)

wow.

Edit: it becomes speed metal near 1:35

Perfectly okay. Thanks for the heads-up.

Noooooooooooo this was going to be my next pick!

pffff. I used the word aquanetta, I meant aquanet. Oh well, I'll leave it there, I think I heard it as a name in the ghetto one time.

Hey bro, just send me your draft sheet and I'll pick on your behalf, on time ;)

With my 11th pick I select:

Graceland (1986) Paul Simon
In the "what are you listening to" thread I posted about Erin Bode's remake of the song. You can't find a good version on youtube, but I instantly fell in love with her as she sang it. Go check it out, wherever you can. It's kinda Janis Joplin-esque.

I saw that earlier. Nice version :).

I've held off on picking this since they're my favorite band and I'd be happy with any of their songs, but it's now my 11th pick and I cannot justify leaving my most played song on my iPod off my board any longer...

What I Got - Sublime (1996)

[yt=What I got]WmAxuIBSlEE[/yt]

According to wikipedia, one of the 100 greatest guitar songs of all time. But it's more than the guitar or the catchy hook, it's the band's seamless fusion of punk, ska, reggae and hip hop. I don't think I'd ever get sick of listening to it.

Since Sackings7 notified us of his computer difficulties, I'm doing what he asked and skipping him. He will NOT forfeit any picks and when he does return he'll be able to make up any picks he may have missed.

Kingzrool is on the clock...PM sent.
