I'm starting to feel sick.....

just all the drama....

Where there is smoke, there typically is fire, and all these rumors have me freaked out. I'm sure other Kings fans are feeling the same way. Why can't we ever just stay in our shoes and not try to get cute. Last year, the FO tried to get really cute, by trading back a couple of spots, and ended up making one of the worst trades we've seen in a very long time. I just have a really bad feeling that we are about to screw up Major again. If we trade away #5 and not make it contingent on whether OUR guy slips to 5 or not, then I think I'll quit the Kings entirely. I don't necessarily mind them considering trading 5 overall, but they better make it contingent on whether or not our guy is there. If MKG is there, and we trade out of that spot, I think I'll blow a gasket.

I take everything with a grain of salt...rumors are just that, rumors. We're a horrible team with not much direction, that needs to make something...anything, happen...whether it's via trade, free agency, whatever. At this point, all we can hope for is that it's Petrie making the moves now, and not the Maloofs just using him as their mouthpiece. We should find out within the next 2 days what the score is with that...and then also July 1st when FA signings can begin. But...being a rabid fan of this team for almost 30 years now, I try to take everything with a grain of salt, and not over-react when something actually does happen.

What is hard, as a Kings fan, is tolerating this "mafool-first" attitude... they want ticket and jersey sales more than a solid team... so who do you take? Omri and Jimmer = instant cash in pocket. And they rearrange the deck year after year to save money and give people something interesting to see... not good, per se, but interesting... they say they are going to spend the money... but they never do. Lowest payroll in the league speaks to that.

So that leaves us with today... they are going to either trade Tyreke or let him walk after his final season, not because the Kings don't need him; they need him; he's probably the second best player on the team and is really young, but because he will be too expensive to keep. So, if they trade him and the top 5 pick for Lowry or Dalembert and some picks later in the draft I would be less than shocked... also, the number 5 pick makes more than double the #16 and #18 picks on the rookie salary scale... so bring in two "prospects" later in the draft to fill spots on the bench... works in the maoffols favor.

I am not trying to be down on the Kings, but they have become the Oakland A's of the NBA... a place for prospects to start their career before being shipped off before their big payday.

@GoodmanCBS: Which NBA GM should you have confidence in? Which are disasters? Here are CBSSports NBA General Manager Ratings -- http://t.co/CoQoRJwL

According to this article, we should feel pretty happy and confident with Geoff... Too bad they only consider draft picks and not trades, that's where he usually has trouble.

There is nothing wrong with trades if they benefit your team. I rather don't like Petrie's habit of drafting a player higher than normally just because he can, rather than look to move down and gain another piece in doing so. The problem with last year's trade was that it was a total PR move and not a solid basketball move.

But they did trade down for Jimmer. It's just we sent out a somewhat useful player for one we couldn't wait to get rid of his first trip through town.

I like the idea of us keeping this pick.

Dude, take a deep breath and step away from the cliff. It's two days before the draft. There are ALWAYS rumors flying all over the place and you can drive yourself nuts if you start listening to them all.

Just to address one particular issue? Carmichael Dave had a discussion on his show today (early podcast because of a commitment this evening) about last year's draft pick. He looks at it as NOT something done by the front office but rather something concocted at the direct order of the Maloofs. Jimmer Fredette was the media darling at the time and it makes a lot of sense to assume that the Maloofs told Petrie to do whatever it took to get them the new shiny toy.

It's not an easy time to be a Kings fan and it's not for the faint of heart. You have to just hope for the best while remembering that as long as the Brothers Maloof are the owners we run the risk of living our lives much like characters in a Greek tragedy...

I think the front office would muxh prerer trading down if they could get a good vet to help team. This would be more desireable than another young stud to train for two or three years. About a 25% chance that a deal the Kings are interested making comes along. If they don't trade down - about a 75% chance - they will most likely take who is left of the top 5. I think it a long shot if they pick below the top 5. We'll know tomorrow. Hve faith in the GP, not to do what you want but to do best for the team.

No kidding. Just like the Olympic gods, the Maloofs are petty, arbitrary, vain, vengeful, easy to distract and, more often than not, foolish.

You got it, VF21. I just hope that last year's pick of Jimmer was GP giving in to the Maoofs and hoping Jimmer developed. Doesn't look like a winner now. But maybe the Ms will give GP his head on this one. Let's keep out fingers crossed and don't mortgage the grandchildren.

That used to bother me too, but why move back and risk missing out on the guy you really want? You move back if there's a bunch of guys you wouldn't mind and some other team is in love with a player.

I'm trying to remain optimistic this year. There are a lot of great players we could potentially add to our team. Some of the rumors are a little worrying. I like Harkless and Moultrie, but I don't particularly like Lillard, Henson, or Zeller. Any of Robinson, Barnes, MKG, or Drummond would be great. Westphal is out and the Maloofs have been put in their place more than once now by David Stern. If that's the brain trust behind last years draft debacle hopefully they'll step aside and let Petrie make the pick this year. As much as I criticize Geoff for his 'safe picks', at least he doesn't flat-out bomb very often. We're in a good position at #5. It should be exciting.

I watched some piece on the draft years ago that showed various team's "war rooms". What surprised me is seeing how much each GM communicated with each other and how each one pretty much knew what the others were doing. I realized this is a necessary thing on draft day to make any moves. Of course, some team can always remain silent and surprise people, but I think GMs have a pretty good idea of who is being drafted and by which team.
