If we could aquire just 1 more 1st round draft pick. And Sign...

This is all true, with Darko you have all the potential in the world with no substance yet. I don't know whether it's Detroit's lack of playing him or it's his own fault, but it's not helping out the cause.

What I like about Darko is that he is, right now, a good piece to put around a dominant PF. He is, right now, a good passer and therefore a good fit for the Princeton. He is, right now, a solid set shooter (Actually, that's all he has on offense right now). He is, right now, a great shotblocker. Darko may or may not get better, but what he is right now can help a lot.

we're not running the princeton offenseanymore.

bibby to atlanta who's under thecap for their #1 and possibly a youngin. they need a PG in the worst way

Atlanta doesn't have their #1 this season (it's going to Phoenix) and they're not far enough under the cap to absorb Bibby's salary.

thanks for the clarification. how about bibby for oneo f their youngins + a future 1st? man the hawks and knicks really screwed themselves this upcoming draft. phoenix is going to look really scary with another talented big next to amare.

even if we pay him 5 yr 50 mil. is it really that much for a young healthy possible superstar talent? even if he avg the same as this year(if he had 30 min) 10pt. 7reb. 3blk. thats worth 10mil. to me.

look at what Brad Miller makes. is he worth the money? there is just no way around having to pay up for a big man FA. This is life in the NBA Big Men dont need to be allstars to earn crazy big $

I dont wanna hear about what happened with this guy in det. cause what happened was- he got hyped up so much drafted 2nd and put onto a larry brown sit rookies on the bench no matter what team. larry brown is terrible with young talent.

if your 18, 19 years old and you made yourself out to be the next best thing and you dont get to play and you have to watch all the other players picked around you in the draft go off. whats going to happen? darko got pissed off at det. to the point that they let him go. he wanted out!

this kid is 22 years old ! i cant stress this enough. he can block shots (something no one on our entire team can do, minus now justin williams) he wants to be a starter ! hes gonna improve no matter what. 22years old.

I am pretty much with you on this. I have posted elsewhere that if I were GM I owuld give-up alot in the way of veterans to land Darko. We would have a great young core with him. I am not saying that he will be the best big in the league or anything, but I think that he would offer this team alot.

Honestly, I am with you - you do not have to print in large color font or anything to convince me.

Well, as a matter of fact, we do run the Princeton on occasion. What do you think those bullet passes from Miller out of the high post to a cutting Martin are?

;)

The problem is we're not running it - or much of anything else - with any kind of consistency.

You have to be realistic both ways with Darko. This is why there is interest, this is also why there are shudders about $10 mil a year:

Final 30 games of 05-06:
20.9min 7.6pts (.507 .000 .595) 4.1reb 1.1ast 0.4stl 2.1blk 1.2TO

First 34 games of 06-07:
21.4min 7.0pts (.429 .000 .564) 4.7reb 1.0ast 0.6stl 1.6blk 1.6TO

And of course the fact he is a legit 7'0" with a huge wingspan. He's only basically got a total of 60 games or so playing in the NBA -- the Detroit years effectively do not count. He's still just 21. Too much improvement may be being asked too quick. That said the flipside is that he has been unabel to cleanly supplant the very mediocre Tony Battie this season, and despite a good summer of NT scimmaging, he doesn't look much if any better than he did to close last season. So...I would love to be in the position the Magic are -- able to evaluate him and then sit back and see what kinds of offers he gets in the offseason before deciding whether to match or not. Would cheerfully trade our non-star level vets to get him to be in that position. But I can't imagine why the Magic would -- they are winning, they have a big young 7-0" shotblocking kid on the roster, and they will be in the driver's seat with the ability to match in the offseason. They took the "risk", such as it was, in acquiring him. Now they get to reap the rewards.

It seems to me that the Magic might be interested in dealing Darko for Bibby. They are pretty weak at PG and the thought of DH and Bibby together......well, let's just say that I would be glad that they play in the East.

I know that the Magic would have to add to the deal.....maybe we could get Hedo and Darko for Bibby.

The Magic already have a pretty good (and cheap) young PG. About the only thing they might need there is a young OG of the future. We don't have that to offer (well we do, but clearly we're not trading it for Darko).

I could probably make an argument for how/why they might be interested in teaming Brad with Howard up front. But it would be sheer speculation.

agreed.

I would sign Darko in a heart beat....He is young and has so much potential to be an All Star player... He didnt go # 2 in the draft for nothing... And I dont want to hear anything about how Larry Brown didnt play him cause he knew that darko is not a good player. Larry brown is a horrible coach who got lucky with detroit period.

Would you sign him for sixty million dollars?

Milicic has Sam Bowie written all over him. He didn't go #2 in the draft for nothing? Neither did Stromile Swift, and so far, that's about as much potential as he shown. If that's as good as he is, the only way he's going to the All-Star game is if he buys a ticket.

And I dont want to hear anything about how Larry Brown didnt play him cause he knew that darko is not a good player. Larry brown is a horrible coach who got lucky with detroit period.
Nothing about that team was luck, the coaching included. Detroit got to the Finals because the Pistons were the best team in the eastern conference, and they won the championship because Larry Brown outcoached Phil Jackson.

Brown has plenty of faults to bag on him for, but being a bad coach is not one of them.
