If we can’t trade kenny thomas then….

Dear Kenny Thomas,

If Geoff Petrie can't deal you, and if your role is that of a bench player, sack up and be a team player. I'm sick and tired of logging onto this site with men and women dedicated to cheering on the Kings through thick and thin ranting about your petty attitude and fragile ego. You make more money than all of us combined. Play hard, cash your check, be active in the community, and deal with the fact that you might not get traded because no-one wants your crappy contract to go along with your crappy attitude. If you weren't known as such a malcontent around the league, maybe someone would want to trade for you. Is it really the end of the world if you aren't in the starting lineup? Try the concept of winning and teamwork for a change. And if you want out of Sacramento so bad then GET YOUR CONTRACT RESTRUCTURED.

Sincerely,
Fresno King

Really, because Kenny has such a good chance of ever being accepted by fans. He played well, took his role on the bench even though he didn't want it, and now, post-fact, everyone thinks he's a cancer. He's overpaid, his contract is way longer than we should want, and he's not good enough to justify that, not to metion we have a much cheaper alternative in Reef. That's why I want to trade him. Honestly, I think he's been much more of a good sport than most people around here give him credit for. He got traded in to replace the face of the franchise, so no one accepted him. He averaged 20/10 his first half season as a King, but everyone loved Skinner more because he made one or two nice plays. As a reward for his solid play, the Kings go out and get another PF for the MLE and start him ahead of Kenny. Yet Kenny still plays. Kenny is a decent player, and I doubt he's a cancer-if he really causes that much trouble people would have heard of him before he came to town. Writing inane letters online complaining that other people online complain about Kenny too much just makes you look like an ***. Congratulations. Like you'd be doing backflips if you were in Kenny's situation.

captain bill - I don't know how many Kings games you saw last year, but I saw Kenny throw "temper tantrums" in two of them, and both were about him being taken out of the game for various reasons.

He wants his minutes and he is VERY vocal about it when he doesn't get them. AND you can't possibly be suggesting that he didn't whine and complain about not starting.

You can feel all warm and fuzzy about Kenny if you want. Sorry, but I don't feel any obligation to reach out and give him a hug. He's a professional NBA player and he's making bleeping MILLIONS to play for the team I love. If I don't think he's putting the TEAM first, I am sure going to say so - and I have many times. I may not have said it with the kind of anger Fresno King has, but there are valid points there.

He's overpaid and his contract is way longer than we should want and he's not good enough to justify it. Those are your words.

Why then does he think he can go to the media and rant about the starting slot?

If Kenny doesn't like being called out on a little message board about his poor attitude, horrible contract that lasts forever, etc. then he'll just have to cry all the way to the bank.

Are you this defensive about the comments made about Chris Webber? Or Peja? Or Brad Miller? Or even Mike Bibby?

Again, I wouldn't have made the comments Fresno King made as personal in nature as he did, but we're not talking about private people here. We're talking about obscenely paid professional athletes.

Fresno King made some heartfelt comments and a real request. He asked Kenny to be a team player. I honestly don't think it's that outrageous a request...

I have a request. If Kenny is so overpaid, find me a power forward who is better than Kenny who makes less than he does **Shareef Abdur-Rahim and guys who are still on their rookie deals (i.e. Chris Bosh) don't count.** And the person has to be legitimately better, not just better because you've soured on KT. KT makes $6.7 mil this season.

Go for it.

And while you're at it, keep in mind that Kwame Brown makes over $8 million, Ruben Patterson makes $7.8 million, Joe Smith makes $6.8 mllion, Malik Rose makes $6.55 million, Raef LaFrentz makes $10.9 million, Ratliff makes $11.6 million....

The only people I could come up with who are unquestionably better on a lower salary are Diop (a crazy bargain at $1.8 mil) and McDyess ($5.8 mil).

Now, granted, KT has a long deal. But people seriously, seriously exaggerate how overpaid he is.

It's close but I actually think Kenny is the best 4 on this team... although that's not saying a lot...

a) he averaged 20/10?????
b) and yes, Kenny has been a notorious whiner everywhere he's been. Something I warned people about when he first arrived.

Real problem is just that he's nearly valueless -- not because he is the least talented guy in the league, but because he has a game that's suited for basically nothing. Start him and you have one of the crappiest starting PFs in the league. Bench him and you have a non-impact too short tweener forward with an attitude problem coming off your becnh to provide ineffectual minutes. Throw on the neverending contract and you are caught in pereptual tweener platoon hell. There is a certain irony to the fact that if you made Kenny LESS of a player, but made him aware of it and accepting of it, he might actually be of more value because then at least you could toss him toward the end of your bench as a roleplayer. Then at least there would someplace he fit.

All of that said, the drive to "trade Kenny" as if that is some sort of solution to our woes is marvelously midguided. Rather I think Kenny Thomas is so marvelously irrelevant that whether we have Kenny Thomas or do not have Kenny Thomas on the team next year might make a difference of 1-2 wins tops. He's in the way, has an attitude, but is so imminently replaceable that trading him doesn't accomplish much of anything in and of itself, besides leaving us with two of the biggest board weenies in the league as a starting frontcourt that the Monarchs wouldn't fear to bang with inside. The salary wasted on nothing is an anchor, as are all the salaries that came back in that trade. But Kenny Thomas isn't "making us lose" anymore than he can "make us win".

Kenny doesn't care about people on the boards, which is why I found that little letter so ridiculous. Yes, I want to trade Kenny, but people are making him out to the anti-Christ. He fleeced Billy King for a great deal (for him) and got traded to us. He's making starter-level money (despite not being a good starter) and wants to start (who wouldn't). It's not beyond comprehension that he wants to be traded. I want to trade him. But I'm not going to spend time writing letters attacking his character, which to me is not the issue- the issue is how much he makes and how little he contributes, ie, business.

First of all, I would be doing backflips if I was in Kenny's situation, because I'd be a multimillionaire athlete in Sacramento without the attitude.

Secondly, my "inane letter" isn't even close to being directed at anyone on this site. Far from it. It's all aimed at Thomas. The dude has a bad attitude, and makes it known that he'd better be in the starting lineup. I called everyone on this site 'dedicated to cheering on the Kings through thick and thin.' How is that a complaint against anyone associated with this site? The fact that the Kings seem to have good team chemistry with one exception (KT), is bothersome. If he's not starting, he's not happy, and that's not acceptable. It's like a 6th grader saying he's not going to play kickball with the rest of the class if he's not picked first.

And if that makes me an ***, so be it.

Okay, at this point, I think you both have had your say. Let's get back to the topic at hand, please, and not turn this into something that will get the thread closed.

Thanks. Remember it's TDOS and we're all a little more testy than usual.

:)

You totally got me lost right at that point. Im sorry but he didn't average any where near those numbers.

Just a heads up. It hasn't been confirmed but some fan from Millwaukee claims that a local radio station claims that the bucks are looking at four options for Magloire (one being for KT). Probably just a rumor but it would be nice.
