...who will you root for?

I don't know y'all. I think this would be the first time in history I hope the Lakers win. THAT is how much I can't stand LeBron anymore.

I'm not the sort of person who doesn't watch the Finals if my team isn't in it: if there's basketball on my TV, I'm watching it. And I'm also not the sort of person who believes that you can hate two things equally: you always hate one, at a minimum, a little bit more than the other. And I hate the lakers a lot more. LeBron James is a punk, but I would root for the Klan against the lakers.

Yeah, I wouldn't be happy about it (haven't been happy rooting for Boston recently) but a Laker is a Laker, and an enemy of a Laker is my friend.

I don't hate the Heat like a lot of people do, however I don't like them either. My pick would EASILY be the Heat in this one.

Lakers. Rationale: The Lakers have won championships, lots of them, and will probably win lots more. James has never won a championship. I'd like to see him retire that way.

I'm alright with Miami winning against the Lakers, but only if they get to shoot 20 or more free throws in the fourth quarter of the deciding game. At Staples if possible. :) But I really really don't want to see LBJ and friends win a championship in season 1, and I don't think I'll have to. I think they lose to Boston before that.

we wont see the heat in the finals unless they learn to play defense. they have 2 of the strongest wing players in the leauge. talent and physically. there is no reason why they shouldnt shut down the perimeter in every game. they should be the jordan and pippen on defense. there is no player in the game that they should have to double team. including kobe. im watching them get routed against the celtics again.

Does your mother live in Cleveland or something?

Its a pretty sad day when a guy with KingsFan right in his name says he is going to root for the Lakers

I don't know how anyone can hate lebron more than they hate Kobe and how anyone can root for the lakers over any other team in the league including Miami.

Look, I just happen to get caught up in my perceptions of people's personalities. I think LBJ is a douche and I'd like to see him fail. That doesn't mean I like the Lakers or even that I'd "root" for them, because I wouldn't. But as long as he has zero rings I hope he stays there.

Root for earthquake in LA and Hurricane in FL to cancel the series.
The best scenario. I think a lot of you are right too. It will be the Lakers and Celtics again. I don't have any issues rooting for the Celtics. I've liked them since the Parrish/Bird days.

Anyway, I really hate the "dream team" ideas being put together by the players. It doesn't make for interesting or fun basketball, and I'm not hardly impressed with them at all right now.

In the interest of the Christmas game and the recent success of the Heat, things are looking a bit differently now. So is my opinion. I take back my vote to root for LA and now place it in the Heat column.

Heat, ONLY because if Kobe wins another, every moron will be comparing him to Jordan. I'm really getting sick of the "Kobe is da best eva! No hatas!!" posts.

Anyways, I'm rooting for the Heat. I dislike the Heat, but I HATE the Lakers.

I live in Lakers country, and its friggin unbearable...Happy Lakers fans everywhere after a 'Chip. If the Lakers come short this post season, I'm gonna talk ish until someone tries to lay me out...Then talk ish some more!!

I can watch the games and not root for either. Since I really have never liked the Celtics, it may be another crappy finals for me, in that sense. I think I'd have to root against the hated Lakers, tho. With a few exceptions (;)) I really hate Lakers and their fans.

I'm going to come off as a complete doucher, but I've progressively hated the Lakers a lot less over the years. You can't even compare our two franchises in any way at their current state and a rivalry has been nonexistant for what, 5? 6 years? This isn't anything like Yankees/Red Sox or Giants/Dodgers in my opinion. I pick Lakers.

So? None of that matters to me. Has a lot more to do with NoCal, SoCal animosity.

Lets' see the Red Sox didn't win a chanpionship for 80 some years and the Giants didn't win one for 54 years. I don't think equality of team talent has as much to do with rivalries as some poeple think. Territorial rivalries generally have more to do with pride than equality of teams.
