Things may have cooled off here, but not that much to be completely off the list. People were saying the Warriors fans were the greatest ever last playoffs, when we all knew Kings fans were half their crowd a couple seasons ago. I'm putting GMs on notice!

Sad, but true. Yes, the Arco crowd was down last year and there were noticeably more visiting team fans than usual (Laker and Warrior fans in particular). There is no longer a waiting list for season tickets and I'm sure the sell-out streak will die this season.

Not officially. A lot of the vacant seats belonged to season tickets holders who couldn't even give them away.

Well, the Kings have totally fallen off the map when we're talking about those "expert" assessments, just read that ESPN article on the Kings in their front page. We're not even "mediocre" anymore, but some of those guys have us slated as 5th in the Pacific Division and such. It shows even in home court advantage assessments now.

I would have to agree with you - I called to inquire about season tickets half-heartedly (my thought was if I could get 10 lower level games then I would do it) - the rep has called me every day in the past 2 weeks.

I also just bought a pair of LL seats (row D no less) for $95 for the pair. That's less than 1/2 of face value

And if it ends, it ends. I was around when the last one ended... and I'll be around when the next one ends. It's not really that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.

In fact, if the sellout streak ends - and the Maloofs are faced with some empty seats every game - they MIGHT (emphasis on the MIGHT) even lower ticket prices to be more in line with the relative value received.

This is VERY sad for me to hear. As some of you know...I'm from Sac-town (Yuba City to be exact) originally and I now live in the Detroit Metro area. When I left in 2003...the Kings were still a proud and competing organization. It is sad for me to see how far they've fallen. It almost seems like the management just doesn't care. I understand rebuilding, but WOW! I am and will always remain a Kings fan...I just wish there was something more to cheer about these days.

It's sad but I would agree with the poll, we should have fallen off the list. I've had season tickets since the beginning and the whole atmosphere has changed over the past two years. It used to be full of rabid fans standing and cheering just to get our team pumped up. It was a family atmosphere full of people who truly cared.

It now has become a wannabe bar scene, do any of you check out the people who go now? Maybe it has to do with the skyrocketing ticket prices that "regular people" can't afford it anymore. They sit on their hands and only get excited when the Kings are on a 20-0 run, they don't really care anyway.

Honestly, whenever I used to walk through the halls all people would be talking about is basketball...or sports of some kind. Now more guys are trying to pick up women as opposed to discussing Kevin Martin's 3-point shot.

I think you're reading way too much into this. While the sellout streak may end, it doesn't mean Arco is going to be empty. There are still a LOT of loyal fans, especially when you look at the recent performance of the team. The organization hit a bump but I'm not ready to start planning the funeral.

I'm in Yuba City at least twice a week, and the buzz I hear from all over there and Marysville and all the little towns between there and my home in Clipper Mills (in the very corner of Yuba County in the middle of the Plumas National Forest) is that people are excited about the coming season, especially if they've seen any of the pre-season games.

Don't lose heart quite yet.

EDIT: After posting that, I read Jerichoholic's comment. There are those who feel that way, too, of course. I just don't think it's necessarily going to stay that way. And, quite honestly, it begins with each and every one of us.

True. It was a weird experience, though, to be at Arco and be one of the few in your section cheering or hollaring "defense." While it is nice to have a team that inspires the crowd to get into the game, I've always thought it was a two-way street. When your team is having the most trouble is when the crowd is most needed to inspire the team, as hard as that is.

Apparently most people I sat around last year didn't feel the same way about the team that I do.

FOX40 had a story just a few minutes ago about the marketing push for ticket sales, lack of interest from fans, season ticket holders not renewing.

Seats are still available for the home opener. Ouch.
