how about malik rose or jerome williams off the bench

seems the knicks and their brain trust have decided allen houston is to valuable to waive ... so talk of using the one time amnesty rule and waiving either malik rose or jerome williams ... how about either one of those two as your big PF off the bench? i could live with that. especially jerome if all you want is physical play not offense, etc. malik brings a little bit of offensive game & rebounding as well.

i was goin to start this thread but i knew some one would so i didnt guess lazy me lol. i hope jerome is waived!! i love thw way the plays the game he flat out ballz he may not be as gifted offensively but his energy and hustle is wat i would want to come of our bench.

Thing is, now that we have signed SAR with our MLE, we're pretty much out of the free agent market. We have no LLE this year, so all we can offer people at this point are minimum contracts. Unlikely Junkyard Dog would come here at thast price to be a bencher on a deep and cluttered bench where his minutes would be uncertain.

But this amnesty thing is looking GREAT fro true contending teams this year. The rich are getting richer, and teams like Miami, Phoenix, Detroit etc. are probably going to be able to scoop up much better reinforcements for their championship runs than they would have been able to previously. Could see Jerome headed back to his old haunts in Detroit, maybe popping up in San Antonio if they move Rasho. Serious teams that like toughness. Then again, could also go somewhere to try to get get major PT. But since we can't offer him money, surefire minutes, or a proven elite team at the top of the championshiop heap, doubt it will be us tha gets him.

Brick points up an interesting situation or dilemma for the Kings. Having retooled for the most part they have no more MLE or LLE options and no extra $$ sitting around. As much as Williams brings on pure defense, in the west even a 2nd string PF needs to score especially if he replaces a 15-20 pt a nite guy like SAR. 'course someone could sign Williams as part of a sign and trade witht he Kings and maybe another team.....

Songaila is about it for Kings for now pending a trade and I think they already have 14 contracts. So lets see what magic GP can pull in the coming weeks.

I think the evidence of that is very sketchy to say the least unless/until somebody gets hurt. And really with all of our offensive weapons, I am not even sure we'd skip a beat offensively if we lost one of them. Just redistribute the shots to the remaining 4 guns and keep right on trucking. During our best years our PF backup was Scot Pollard.

Difference/problem just is that JYD isn't a "good" tweener -- a 4/5 able to play both power spots. He's another "bad" tweener, the dreaded 4/3 of which we already have three. Gotta love his spirit though whatever he plays.

As Brick alluded to, I think we're done in the FA market having used our MLE on SAR. All further moves will be either S&T with our RFA's or straight trades to improve our talent level or financial position...or both. We could trade up for talent on a "two for" or even laterally talent wise to save money.

man..... i said that in the trade thread..... we could trade thomas for williams and then they can waive malik.... that'd be nice....

Mmm..thinking the Knicks get the better of that trade. Would like to have as many JYD style players around as possible given our starters, but I don't know really know how much I would be willing to give up to add a 32yr old tweener forward to the roster.

espn reporting JYD was just amenesty waived... i think this gives the kings almost no chance of landing him... no MLE and no connection to the west coast, he is headed back to the detroit or miami...

If we want an expensive cheerleader then we should definitely sign Jerome Williams.

thats that then.... it would have been a good trade for us, having jerome for 2 yrs instead of thomas for 4.... oh well....

Suns already used their MLE on Raja Bell, and only have the LLE and vet. mininum left.

Petrie does a lot of his stuff by trades anyways, as has shown over the last 3-4 seasons.

Actually with all the buildup of the the "great amnesty casualties", it appears that there won't be an abundance of the kind of players we need, or players that are all that valuable. To even sign a guy like Jerome, if we could, would mean we have found our new 12th man. Wow, big deal.
