HOT TAKES THREAD!!!

The Nuggets are a year further along the road than we are.

You're conveniently leaving Milsap (33), Will Barton, Torrey Craig, and Plumlee (all 28) off that list and forgetting to mention that the Nuggets have also struggled haaaaaaard down the stretch to the point that Jokic is having to make public statements to get his teammates to relax.
Lol

Nice work attempting to shift the context. Their main 3 cogs have been together for 3 years, Harris, Barton and Jokic for 4, Plumlee for 2 and a half, Millsap for 2 and they've had the same coach with this core for 4 seasons now. They're in a completely different part of their timeline than we are.
I used those players because it's their young players who are actually getting PT.

Have you guys seen any Nuggets games this year? Barton has only played in 38 games this year. Millsap isn't the same player he used to be and he only plays 27.1mins good for 12.7pts 7.3rebs. Minutes comparable to Nemenja Bjelica at 23.3, but of course he's not as good. Plumlee is at 20mpg 8th in MPG.

In what world is Harris-Barton-Jokic-Plumlee their cog? It's Jokic-Murray-Harris.

I hope so.

I just dont want Vlade to go with the whole lets be friends and work things out. Its clear Joerger and Williams have a fractured relationship and you dont want Joerger starting to think about the Minny opening and options he has.

Don't be shocked if Joergers options aren't nearly as abundant as you'd think. There should be something out there but he's already built a bit of a slippery slope for himself behind the scenes with both players and management.

I'm hoping Williams conveniently finds a "promotion" on another team and leaves on his own accord this summer. ;)

Keeping a good head coach happy is way more important than keeping a good assistant GM.

The Kings need not be worried about a good head coach in general terms, they need the right head coach that will use the talent they have properly and not overthink things. When you've built a strong base of talent it's all X's and O's from then on. That coach might be Joerger but as the season has ticked on we've seen clear regression in terms of the play sets and player management. That still could be part of a bigger plan but the Kings are starting to run away from much of what the NBA is based around now. Joerger did go small but in the process decided to play an overpowering type of game when doing so. There are still many things that appear to be bass ackwards in relation to much of the strategy put in play.

I look for Vlade to quietly usher Williams out the door. And because he does it in this way, quietly and with dignity, he will have a much better chance of recruiting a quality replacement to fill Williams' shoes. A glitzy "you're fired" moment would have satisfied us fans a few weeks ago, but ultimately would have been a disservice to the team in filling that important spot for the next stretch.

We don't know what any of the facts around whatever potential issues there are actually are. This is the type of season where exit interviews are HUGE. Vlade needs to listen to the players and I'm sure he will. He also needs to take what his data people are telling him seriously and then draw some conclusions from there. For all we know the head coach/FO issues might have been totally overblown. Maybe not. One thing we do know is that this isn't the first go around involving one party in said equation. One thing I think we can take solace in is that there is no question, regardless of who you put in the mix and at whatever level, this is Vlades team. This is his baby. Pundits have laughed at him every step of the way and he's taken the you'll see approach. If he thinks anyone is messing with his vision I'd bet that he'll handle it when the time comes necessary to do so.

So did management. A few of the assistants didn't accept the 1 year extensions from williams. You dont think assistants dont talk to each other? Williams could be a non destination from his actions.

Barton is absolutely part of their cog. If you are using Harris as a barometer, they had the same month of March (~29MPG). Both have missed significant time to injuries this season. Barton hasn't looked great this year, but he had a really nice year last year and was handed a substantial contract (4/53).

I don't know what Williams' history behind the scenes are but we know the circumstances or the rumors of such that revolved around Joergers departure from Memphis.

I know. Notice the use of the "comma" :)

Their main 3 cogs have been together for 3 years***,*** (already assumed everyone knew it was Harris-Jokic-Murray).
Harris, Barton and Jokic have been together for 4 years
Plumlee for 2 and a half
Millsap for 2
Coach been with this core for 4 seasons?

Make sense? Now try actually addressing the point. This is a team that's been together for a long time with the same coach throughout that entire process. How is that anywhere close to where we're at in the team building process when Fox-Buddy-Bogdan-WCS didn't get control of the team until mid-way through last season and we added Giles/Bagley/Yogi/Barnes/Brewer/Nemanja (and Shump before he was traded) as new guys to the rotation this season.

Also, how do quality good veterans like Barton/Plumlee and Millsap not matter?

Because you randomly decided to include half our roster while only pointing to the youth of the Denver Nuggets “key cogs”. Barton BTW was pretty much considered the Nuggets’ third or fourth best player behind Jokic and Millsap last season and had injuries that affected both his playing time and production this season.

I mean, if you’re just going to arbitrarily group the youngest guys on a roster together and call them the key cogs of a franchise, the Kings collection of two 20 year olds (HG isn't 21 until April 22nd) and a 21 year old in D-Fox is younger, for whatever that's worth.

Because they don't fit the "The Kings are actually old and maxed out unlike the young spryly Nuggets" narrative.

I don't think the team had any "quit" in them. I just think our luck ran out and we ran out of gas a little. Still hoping for 41-41
I agree. Some unlucky losses. Also think they got worn down over the course of the season due to their pace. This is the 1st year they’ve pushed pace like this and it worked extremely well the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the season. But teams started to adjust better combined with some key injuries at bad times and fatigue. I think they’ll get better at pacing themselves (no pun intended) for an 82 game season with this experience.

Like you, I’m crossing fingers for at least 3 out of the next 4 — but greedily hoping for all 4 and 42 wins.

Totally agree with you here.

The real key beyond comparing age is how long the core has been together. The Nuggets top players have been together longer. That means something.

It also shouldn’t be overlooked that their top player played professionally before entering the NBA so his experience was greater than say Swipa or MB3. Of course Bogdanovic has that too but he’s not one of the KINGS two or even three best players on the team.

Fox has been available to play every game this season. Joerger rested him one game. All this while being fouled repeatedly with no call most of the time. If Swipa got half the foul calls he deserves the Kings might have made the Playoffs!
Yeah this actually might be true, especially considering most of our losses were extremely close games.

Funny, but on ‘Pardon the Interruption’ today one of their topics was NBA officiating and whether it has become better or worse. They mentioned star treatment and Mike Wilbon sarcastically dropped Harden’s name.

The panel expert, Michael Lewis, believes there is evidence to support that officiating has gotten better and cited numerous ‘stars’ being outraged because they aren’t getting calls like they used to. He also says home court advantage isn’t what it once was because the home team isn’t getting all the favorable calls anymore.

But I’m with you. If Swipa got half the calls he should — forget about half the calls guys like Harden get — the KINGS would be a lot more dangerous. They would likely be in the playoff mix this season.
