Heads up! News10 to talk to Miller NOW!

Bryan May just said he talked to Brad Miller today about the coaching change and that we'll be surprised at what Miller has to say about his new coach.

It's commercial now. Sports on in just a minute or two...

Bryan May says, "So, what do you think about your new head coach?"

Miller: "Well, he's a little guy."

May: "Yeah, but you're 7 feet tall. What do you think about your new head coach?"

Miller (who was at a KHTK fan appreciation function with Garcia and Musselman, BTW): "Well...laughter... he's a little guy.

Yeah, that was worth waiting up for.

But there it is. For those of you who have been waiting with baited breath to hear what Miller thinks, apparently he's pretty sure that Musselman is "a little guy."

;)

That was it?

Yep. EVERY word. Miller was grinning and laughing the whole time. And Coach Muss was within earshot. It appeared as though Miller, Cisco and Muss were having a great time...

But not exactly a journalistic scoop, by any stretch of the imagination.

;)

Bryan May

Nice slice of journalistic excellence. I hate it when sportscasters make you think they have some unreal quote to share when it's actually something stupid, uninformative, and 5 seconds long.

I could not agree more.

I guess this is May's way of trying to one up Napear since Miller dropped the "S bomb" during the live radio broadcast earlier Thursday evening.

For those who missed it, Miller recalled a story on how he treated Garcia as a rookie during this past season and how he will continue to be a rookie until opening night. Something like, "Garcia can do this for me and other S." Napear then had to tell Miller that he could not say that on the radio as it is a family show.

Well whatever local sportscaster hijinks aside, nice to see them comfortable enough with each other that they can joke, and that at least during the summer Musselman is relaxed enough to take it with a laugh rather than do the over intense tool thing.

Please tell me that he has been doing copius amounts of squats and has put on some weight so he doesn't get pushed around like a cork in the ocean. Or, tell me he has developed some type of post game, half hook, drop step, anything????

Although, I never get tired of those off season hunting stories!

I was actually wondering about that a bit. Does he look any more "fit?"

Well to be fair to Keyston Light's player of the year last season Brad did show a little half hook in a few games.

ah yes Brads hunting stories, always fun. My personal theory is that Bard intentionally peppers his speech with Braisims, and talks about hunting to discourage further interviews.I swear somethines it's like listening to Boomhower on King of the Hill.

I didn't see it, but that's the impression I get from reading it. Sounds like they are all very comfortable with each other. Can't be a bad sign.

As to serious journalism, it was a non-serious, fun event, not a press conference or even a regular interview. People were there to have a good time and enjoy themselves. I think it was nice for Brad, Cisco and Muss to be there.

Okay, apparently I gave a misimpression last night.

Although May's teaser was just that - a teaser - the "interview" itself was clearly a "feel good" bit to show the relaxed atmosphere between the new coach, the crusty veteran and the up-and-coming Garcia.

From what I've heard, there may be more of these "appearances" with Muss and other players.

I like it. I thought the teaser was over the top, but other than that it was actually a relief to see a couple of players and the coach out in public laughing and having a good time...

I see absolutely nothing positive in Brads remarks. First, he is showing disrespect towards the Kings new head coach. Given that it is Brad doing the talking, I suspect he indeed has little or no respect for Musselman. Brad is not known for his subtle remarks and wit. This was not the time and place to be "clever and funny". Nobody knows Musselman. He needs positve air-time.

Secondly, Brad's sophmoric remark shows that he still has no behavioral clue. He apparently has no intellectual meters. Gee, when to I speak, and when do I shut up. This is similar to the way he seems to ignore critical game-time moments during the regular and post-season schedule. Brad simply shows very little personal discipline, physical or mental. He is the only player on the team that makes me angry by simply breathing my air.

Musselman is trying to become familiar with the team and fans. he does not need obtuse remarks from a "key" player.

Eh, I think you're probably reading a bit much into it, QD. Sounds like everyone was hanging out and having fun. Brad hasn't had a practice or anything with his new coach. What's he supposed to give a dissertation on without having any time to learn what the new coach is going to want/like to do?

I think he was just ribbing Muss - no harm, no foul.

Hmm, perhaps if they had just met and that was the first and only thing Brad said to him or about him, then, yea, you might be right. However, they were just goofing off, so I don't see it as anything sinister

I agree, especially considering I have always had the perception that Muss is a HARDA and all business.

I think just like any person in a leadership position if you can connect with your people/players and joke around and have fun you will get more out of them when its time to get down and dirty.

I would be far more concerned if Muss couldn't take this kind of ribbing. That would be an indication of rampant insecurity and imminent coaching doom for me.
