[Game] Grizzlies @ Kings - 1/7/13

Question of the week: What's up with Jimmer?

Nothing if he shot is not falling he does nothing else, hes having a hard time getting his shot off against more talented/athleticly gifted players. He only had 1 open look when he made his defender fall that whole game.

Question of the week: What's up with Jimmer?
Of course I'm a big Jimmer fan but I'm totally uphappy with his last 4 games. I really think the problem is the sporadic minutes and having to come in cold. He's never had to do that. He's lost his feel again and with the rotations on this team I can't see him getting it back.

I feel like this "undersized" argument doesn't carry much validity when it comes to Smart. It is more on the roster. Let's take a look...

If we were to only play the guys that were adequately sized for their position, we would have a lineup of...

PG - Evans/Fredette
SG - Salmons/Garcia
SF - Johnson/Outlaw/Honeycutt
PF - Thompson/Robinson
C - Cousins

We have many undersized guys on this roster which makes it tough to matchup with our opponents. It always makes us seem like we are smaller which ultimately is a drag.

I think I like that lineup better then what we run.

G-Man ends with... "Kings get SMOKED 113-81. This is a night you wish you were still out on the road!"

Interview with Conley in postgame and he brags about matching Kings intensity from the start and then speeding up tempo to the very end. Hell, that's what Smart said Kings needed to do - run, run, run. No more stupid excuses Keith!!

Smart has bigger players and match ups he can use. The quote you are reffering to he was using shorter players when he could have bigger players in. Not sure the point you are trying to make.

AGREE!!! The fact that you point out, constant change of rotations!!! How can any player besides the DMC and JT, get a groove or a mental stability of when playing time goes high and low each game.

8pts 12 rebounds on 4-8 shooting in 20 minutes. I'll take the stupid rookie mistakes from Trob if he continues giving the effort and this kind of production

Hey you know what? That's a good statline - I won't disagree with you. But I'm not going to call him a valuable player until he starts playing well when it matters. And I still disagree on the star potential bit. TRob can be a fantastic rebounder, but that doesn't make him a star. You know who else is a fantastic rebounder? Reggie Evans. Guys with great potential don't turn the ball over any time they put the ball on the floor, nor do they miss wide open layups every game.

You gave at least half of those guys an extra inch, while shorting Evans one, for some reason.

Man, 0-2 tonight. The universe owes me big time. Beyoncé, if you're ever in Denver, gimme a call.

Well, see, there you go: I wouldn't want to fight Jay-Z for Beyoncé, not because I couldn't take Hova, but because he probably has an entire entourage of ex-felons on his payroll.

I'd break Arend in half, though; I would "arend" him asunder.

That's the beauty of basketball and arguing about it on a forum! We can disagree whether Trob can be a star player in the league and at the end of the day, we just want the Kings to win. Trob has been disappointing this year for sure, but I'm willing to wait for his potential to develop ( or not) to see what he can turn in too. The last 3 games have given us an inkling to what he can do when he gets some consistent minutes. The bones of a strong offensive game from him are there; good form on the jumper, quickness, ability to get to the rim, etc. It just needs refinement with a full offseason of NBA coaching.

This season for Trob should be all about rebounding, effort, defense, and scoring on garbage points. He's done that the last 3 games and thus been a good bench big for us in that span. The next few seasons after that is where I'll really be looking for the offensive improvement and an increase in overall play.

we really need to get rid of Brooks, Jimmer, Garcia, Hayes, Outlaw and get a real PG and a shot blocker

Yep. There's plenty of good pieces on this roster to build a good playoff team. IT, Reke, Thornton as your guards. JT, Cousins, Trob as your bigs. Salmons as your SF and Johnson playing in a swing role. An upgrade at PG and a coach who doesn't play 12 guys a night would have this team on the right path

Looks like Cuz just grabbed Thompson aggressively by the jersey after the first quarter. Hope I'm reading too much into it but I thought I saw Salmons or someone then running over incase it escalated.

WOW what a bunch of idiots. Cuz was going over to get JT back to the bench and not go after the ref and get a T.

Fair enough. Well, only time will tell who is right

Yep. 10:05 2nd quarter. I wrote the time down so everybody who will defend him can go back and look.

It was at the griz bench talking **** to him.

I guess you missed the one where Garcia say the same thing during a FT.

Hey hey, Dont forget your boy IT. he sucks. We should keep brooks since at worst he's a good backup. IT will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER be a good player on a good team. He will NEVER EVER EVER be a contributor on a playoff team, something that brooks has already done by the way. And just in case you missed my point, IT SUCKS

I think the difference between Brooks and IT is simple, Brooks is in his prime right now, this is one of his 'peak years' ... he is done developing. While IT is putting up the same stats and has a few years of growth before he reaches his peak. I don't like either one of them, but IT still has potential while Brooks is already reaching his.

Yeah, he's definitely in a slump. He's definitely not gelling well playing next to Brooks. It appears he's getting frustrated, as Brooks isn't passing to him when he's open. So I suspect it's leading him to to create and take much more difficult shots.
