FUGLY!

Theme = For the ladies. in celebration of the fugly. All the blowouts have subjected them to many a babe, so I figure the least I could do is show them why they shouldn't bother going gaga over a hot guy. So: Hot Guys, Before and After.

Gee, thanks, Brick. Being old, flabby, bald and/or frumpy doesn't keep guys from appreciating the hot girls you post. ;)

I'm tired of people assuming Dally even wanted to come back to Sac or would have, without an obscene offer of money.

Smart commented on Cousins conditioning soon after he took over. It wasn't just fouls that limited Copusins time on the court, it was his poor conditioning. Smart told him he had to really work hard on it. It's nice to see him completely whole games, but it's possible that back to backs are still a real test for him.

I think conditioning needs to be a huge emphasis for a lot of guys on this team, including or especially in the off season.

I'd hate to think of what that game might have looked like, if Love had been available.

Agreed.

Agree. I'm sure Petrie would rather have Dalembert. Just the way it goes.

The he shouldn't have pursued Hayes first and only gone back to Dally once Hayes had his medical issue. He's already admitted as much and Dally has already pointed out that it made him feel not wanted.

I always find it interesting that a million here or there makes no difference to these guys if their feelings are upset. Wish I could have those options. The only guys who aren't overpaid are the guys at the end of the bench who have to make enough money to last the rest of their lifetime because they have no other skill. Still, they do better than me, also. Sigh.

I return you now to the thread originally in progress.

Geez, one year salary for some of these guys, and I'd be set for life. Heck give me the difference they want. I can play. Not good, but is that important? ;)

Its really funny how people twist the truth in all this to suit their arguments...you know Dally didn't want to be here, we wanted to keep him and all that bull****! We approached Hayes first and signed him up! Once we did that we showed no interest in Dalembert. Hayes gets diagnosed with a heart defect, we void the contract and scramble our way around, making an offer to Dalembert who say he expects to sign with us within 24 hours. Hayes gets the all clear from the specialists, we rescind our offer to Dalembert and throw and extra $1million on Hayes' initial contract.

That is the timeline that took place but people conveniently overlook these details to suit their argument...or they just prefer to bury the head into the sand and pretend that everything is rosey!

Scramble? I think not. It was more of a "Oh gosh, do we have to?" kind of scramble is there is one. :p

You can disagree with Petrie but it was clear from day 1 that he wasn't interested in signing Daly. Might be that Cousins guy already being here or something. Just need to find a way to play Hayes next to Cousins and not as a backup C with Hickson.

Of course, any time you have 2 bigs running 6'11" and 7" that seem to be working together and form one of the most imposing front lines in the nba, why try to keep that going? Especially when there is a chance to take away that advantage by putting the 6'11" foul prone young cornerstone of your franchise next to a stubby 6'6" guy. Duh.

People are getting way too caught up in all the height hoopla and not thinking about the ramifications of the pairing of two specific individuals. Check out some games from last year if you have a chance. You'll notice how poorly this team matched up against pick and roll teams and who Cousins had to guard a lot of the time. Would love to have a big C to backup Cousins, but Daly/Cuz was not the most imposing front line in anything other than offensive rebounding. Some matchups they worked really well, but the pick and roll is something that they had major problems with, something the Kings haven't had major problems with this season when Chuck Hayes is playing. Tyson Chandler was the only available 7 footer that can effectively defend the way the Kings needed to defend.

That little stubby guy was brought in to defend the pick and roll and match up with the Blake Griffins, Paul Millsaps, etc. of the world so Cousins doesn't have to.

Good points. It's not actually accurate but it sounds nice. If you think Hayes/cousins is a better pairing than dalembert/cousins I don't know what to tell you. You basically have picked one portion of the game, defending pick and roll with 2 bigs and tried to pin this move on that. When in reality, dally did an ok job guarding the pick and roll and surpassed Hayes in every other aspect you want from a big.

Thank you.
I don't know where this ret-con comes from, like the Dally/DMC pairing was dominant defensively or something.

There were some games were Dally made an impact, to be sure - but there were many games were he was ineffective, and people complained loudly about his embarrassing offensive attempts.

I think we'll have to wait a bit to see if Hayes can get healthier and see if he can defensively impact this team (moreso than he already has at times). Not exactly giving him a fair shake when you compare Dally after a full season w/ the Kings, yet only give Hayes a relative handful of games, while injured severely.

I'll tell you one thing that Hayes over Dally, in spades : an inspiring attitude.
Dally is out for himself, and I think everyone realizes it.

No. Daly was the one guarding pf's, both regular and stretch. It allowed Cousins to match up with the opposing center.

Hayes guards who Daly would have guarded, not Cousins. And Daly was damn good at guarding pf's from Dirk to Aldridge, given his length and quickness.

I agree sometimes people get caught up too much in size, but we aren't talking about replacing a 7 footer with a 6'9" guy. We're talking about replacing a 7 footer with a guy the same height as our pg.

They aren't rookies. They're both long term vets and the strengths and weaknesses of each are well documented. If you think giving Hayes more time is going to suddenly show that he can bring what dally did or that his pep, courage, screen setting and pick and roll d will make up for any deficiencies, let me save you the suspense, they won't. And we'll be looking for someone to pair next to cousins for the next 2-3 years. And that complimentary piece is likely to look far more like Dally's skill set than chucks.
