Don't Make Me Use The Bat
We be in a bit of trouble.
Artest ( F ) -- Jesus. Sorry if that offends people. But...jesus. Can hold off no longer on the "F". Maybe it was, maybe it was not, but the accumulation alone is just too much. Ron, please quit firing up threes! But could not force home things inside either. Even after an open court steal, could not finish. Blew layups, everything rolled off the rim, was repeatedly blocked... After an atrocious offensive half, just as randomly stepped up and hit a buzzer beating three while floating to his left. But then just went right back to the struggle in the second half. Just as much of a concern as the struggle itself is how it looks -- looks like he has no clue what he wants to do out there right now. He just looks confused, with none of the command of the game you need from your star. Considerably bothered Jamison on defense, but not nearly as much on Butler. Ron led our charge up the standings, right now he's leading it down.
Thomas ( D+ ) -- was working on a very middling first half, but was spending as much timre whining and complaining as actually playing, and it culminated when he stupidly got himself tossed in the third after clobbering Caron Butler on the head and opening up a nasty cut which kept Butler out for a quarter while he got stitches. Game itself was on the lower end of ok -- grabbed some baords, cut to the hoop. But his conduct, and then actually getting tossed...boo Kenny.
Miller ( C+ ) -- started off still playing with no confidence, and came out refusing to shoot once again. Eventually warmed up to medicority, and hit a shot here and there. A couple of jumpers, a couple of ugly drives. But never really established anything. Boardwork was inferior, but blocked a few shots in there when not politely stepping out of the way as various Wizards went flying by for dunks. A shurg, but at least did not actively suck.
Wells ( C ) -- another active but sloppy start. This time thankfully did not get kicked out. But never really took off either and turned ina thoroughly middling performance highlighted only be a few nice steals and one nifty baseline dunk in the early going. Took a big elbow to the nose in the third, but appeared to be ok and played the rest fo the way.
Bibby ( C+ ) -- did a lot of our early scoring, but there was a lot of slop around the edges -- blown layups, bad passes. Disappeared in the third, as the game got ultra-scrappy and the Wizards started to pull away. Finsihed up with a very one-dimesnional 20 point night, but the only guy doing anything on offense.
Reef ( C+ ) -- had some apparent mismatches in there, but we didn't go to them much and while Reef got a hoop here and there, he was never able to make much of a difference. Did a solid job on the glass. Began to struggle with turnovers like the rest of the team late.
Cisco ( A- ) -- big second quarter -- you could see last game that he was rounding back into form, and this time out turned in one of his better quarters of the season. Maybe not quite as dynamic as the numbers made it sound, but still likely our best player of the half and got us going there for a brief bit. Was solid in the second half, but unable to produce the same spark as we spiraled to defeat. Lone bright point of the night.
Hart ( INC ) -- a few unremarkable minutes in the first half, and then garbagetime
Price ( INC ) -- garbagetime
Potapenko ( INC ) -- garbagetime
Monia ( INC ) -- garbagetime
Adelman ( D ) -- Just no excuse for this one. No Arenas. On our home floor. The second night of a back to back for them. And we we just terrible. We even managed to hurt their leading scorer in Gilbert's absence (Butler), and we still couldn't make a significant push. We are loking disorganized, demoralized, and lost. We were damn lucky to have pulled out the Seattle and Utah games or this streak could be a collapsing 7 now. Of course the coach will always take a big chunk fo the blame, and clearly he hasn't had the answer. But what is the answer? What's to blame for this? Ron is playing awful, and the turth is that may explain it right there -- our leader is dragging us down wiht him. But many others are off their games too, and even if it is Ron, why exactly has he suddenly lost his feel? I go back to Indiana..because that was where this started. But even if that disturbed him somehow, what did he catch? A disease? Rick went with the same rotation, disturbed only by the various sucking, injuries, and whining to refs that plagued us all night. And of the entire crew, only Cisco gave us a game. Yuck. In any case, we are sucking now, dropping games left and right. And if we keep this up we could still blow our playoff spot. Damn good thing we got that Utah game or they would be breathing down our necks.
