Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Tonight's theme: Completely Ridiculous Movie Monsters/Aliens

Artest ( A ) -- tempted to give Ron an A+ here, even in the loss, just as the only starter showing even an ounce of pride out there. Spent all night just bullying inside and drawing fouls (actually, there was some question here in the way fouls get called sometimes -- Ron dealt a lot of the punishment, and then gets rewarded with trips to the line ala Shaq). Missed another pack of FTs, although tonight it did not matter, and made most of them when they mattered down the stretch. Singlehandedly kept us within...uh...well, pretty much lone ranger out there in any case until Salmons joined him late. Played very hard, put up big numbers (33-5-7) trying to singlehandedly keep the ship afloat, and on a night like this if Ron decides he has disdain for his coach or teammates, well damn, who could blame him?

Halt or I shall exterminate you with my toilet bowl plunger!

Thomas ( D ) -- managed the D rather than the F here simply for grabbing a few rbounds and being closer ot his normal level of incompetence than the rest of the starters.

seesar.jpg

Do not fear, a 200ft tall mutant version of the cowardly lion shall save you.

Miller ( D- ) -- and this...really should be an F. Gets his D- really as more of a recognition of the awfulness of the Bibby/Martin duo. Did actually make a couple of nice passes to Kevin that on another night might have been assists. But really now. 4pts 2rebs. Helluva effort.

Yes indeedy, this giant space turkey was actually the monster in a movie once. Could have been our mascot for this game too.

Martin ( F ) -- gee this was a tough grade... no energy, no nothing. A completely dead game. And this time when there was one more "no", no minutes, it was hard to argue with.

And there is nothing more terrifying than a killer snowman.

Ron Artest = A ... Thanks for trying for us, man...That's all we ask.

Everyone else...Why bother, they don't deserve an individual letter for their performances.

Bibby ( F ) -- and gee, this one was hard to grade too. So one big game, and then another terrible one. So much for second half revivals. Their PG got his 82nd career triple double. Ours gave us 3pts on 1-7 shooting. Um...ouch?

In case you are having a hard time figuring out what that is, its a killer pinata. Yes, you heard me right. A killer pinata. "Demon Island", 2002. Rent it now.

Corliss ( D+ ) -- what the hell, two nights in a row? Actually, this was slightly better by the end. In the first half it was just more Washington -- turnovers, dumb plays, sluggishness. But in his second stint he at least looked alive, although only very slightly effective.

Gorilla wearing a diving helmet anyone? Anyone??

Cisco ( B- ) -- a little energy off the bench, and hit a few shots. Finally into the part of the roster that was not solely populated by Ds and Fs. Helped a little in the second quarter to *ahem* keep us within 20. And helped a little later to...well, keep us within 20. Would have had a third three as well, but I think Corliss got called for the illegal screen just before he shot it.

Had a harder time than you might imagine digging up a pic of this most famous of all bad movie monsters -- prepare to scream, you are now being assaulted by a shag rug wearing tennis shoes.

Salmons ( A- ) -- And finally we reach a King who had Ron's back. Maybe a stronger game than even the numbers indicate, and the numbers were quite stong. In the third quarter it was really John who...well, brought us back within 20. That was the way this one was going. But Salmons was still playing very well, using his penetrating ability to create shots for everyone else. Given that this is John Salmons we are talking about, and 5pts 2rebs is a perfectly reasonable line for him, a 16pt 6reb 7ast game could very well be an A, but there is no bleeping way I am giving out 2 straight A's in THIS game. So A- we go. He was the sidekick, Ron was the hero heroically leading us to another ignominous defeat.

Hated to use the box cover, but it was the only thing I could find clearly expressing this wonderful monster: a flying piranha. Yes, flying. As in fluttering their little fins and darting about like a hummingbird.

Reef ( B ) -- okay, this was not a great game for Reef. At no point did he dominate in any area, never was a key playr in anythign we were doing., But he was quite literally the ONLY Kings big who brought a game tonight, in fact maybe the only one you could even prove was in the arena. And he was as close to solid as we had. He also, in uncharacteristic fashion, was the only King on the glass. So solid outing, and definitely part of our best 5 on the night.

Well this thing was more of a "good guy" than a bad monster or whatnot, but still, really now.

Price ( B+ ) -- hey, at least he tried. Was one of our bench hustlers that...well, managed to not let the blowout get even worse. Played aggressively and physically. Was far from perfect. Missed more shots than he took. Had some careless turnovers. Insisted on trying to pickpocket Jason Kidd in true young player fashion. But hustled and along with Ron and Salmons was basically the only guy going at full speed for us.

Should we discuss the pipe cleaners or the feather boa first?

Douby ( INC ) -- a hustel play or two in his late minutes, one jumper. Not bad. 2pts and 2rebs. Marcus Williams had 19pts 3ast 2reb. Just saying.

There have been many bad giant spiders in Hollywood history. This one may have been the worst. But hey, the movie starred the Skipper, so it wasn't all bad.

Williams ( INC ) -- now apparently occupies Muss's bottomless doghouse, because in this ugliest blowout game, he still couldn't get on court until the final minute.

And to think I almost forgot to include a piucture of the infamous killer carrot. Tsk.

So let's all think good thoughts for the Blazers tonight. If they can manage to beat Memphis, we will be back in line for the #8 draft pick.

Best play of the night was in the first quarter when a Net player passed to guy who was laying down on the floor because he had fallen.

Best funny was when the Kings had 8 points with quarter nearly over and Napier said to Reynolds that the Nets had to be really worried because they were only up by 10 (or so).

Impressive, even for this team. ;)

Brick: These grades had me laughing 'til I fell out of my chair. Thanks, I needed that. :D

.

I actually watched this movie. Now i ask myself what was more painful to watch?

lol but man i dont even know if the kings knew if they had a game i mean ron cisco salmons price and sar were only ones who basically played

Actually, in some ways, this was an ideal game (would have been better had it been an "almost win", and if QD and Justin had received some more PT). The kids got a chance to play, and conducted themselves well, and we lost.

As much as it sucks to support losses, at this point, the only hope is the draft.
