I agree. Kobe actually didn't get as much star treatment as usual. They actually called fouls on him. And Odom fouled out.
That last play with JT and Gasol was a good no-call. On the replay, they were both flopping.

I don't think Kevin particulary wants to be the go-to guy. I think he will accept taking that shot, but I never got the impression he demanded it.

The last thing you want to do going forward is to teach Tyreke to back down from star players in this league. Try to think of a 3-4 year timeframe, instead of 3-4 days. Not too long from now Tyreke will be getting by anyone he wants in this league and by then he will almost certainly have learned what to do when the opposing defences react to that.
This "get the ball to someone else" mentality is baffling to me. You really thik that's going to win more games in the long run? Is that what championship teams have done in the past? Get the ball out of the hands of their best player?
westphall should let Take learn the hard way, like he did to Casspi and Brockman with banching on every mistake, who is Tyreke Evens that thinks he can beat Kobe one on one in the crunch time?
you can't learn anything like that, he probably saying to himself right now "sometimes the ball goes in and sometimes it doesn't", but when you get benched and right after your mistake the coaching staff telling you what you did wrong, than you learn.

I know that he doesn't call for the ball that much, but man he can make some killer shots as well. You know what I mean? I still see him as a leader on this team, and I trust him with the ball at the end of a game as well.

Ditto!! Whining endlessly year after year about the refs is loser mentality. Unfortunately, that disease has long affected some (too many!) Kings fans. It had nothing to do with this loss just as it had nothing to do with the Kings having a losing record so far this season at 13-15 after winning only 17 games last year.

On the contrary. Casspi has been receiving that treatment in Israel for the past two years, and look at the progress he'd made. Westphal, on the other hand, has allowed him to play through his mistakes for the most part as a king, and look at the progress he's made.
They'll be going over that play in practice, you can be sure, but during gametime is the time to give young players confidence, not make them look over their shoulder on every play.
If its a good no call, then don't call that **** on JT on the other end.
It's not a good no call, its a game decider. It's really easy to get open when you throw your man to the ground.

Kevin can hit clutch shots, he just isn't very good at getting his own space. Kevin shooting off of Tyreke penetration, I am fine with. Giving Kevin the ball and saying "make it" doesn't normally work against defenses stacked against him. Defenses stack against Tyreke, and he makes some moves, but he is not learning to take what the defense gives him.
Ideally, you want Beno initiating to Tyreke in a scoring position with KMart as a threat behind the three point line and Tyreke making the pass if the shot is not there. You don't have any of those things now, so late game situations are self imploding.

I think with someone like Evans, it's about keeping his confidence up while showing him the result of his play.

When the their best defender is on them yes. Would you rather have Evans against Kobe or Beno against Shannon Brown? They won't be calling any fouls on Kobe.

People really just don't understand that the Tyreke on Kobe 1 vs 1 at teh end was a called play... he was told to go at Kobe on that play and failed. It happens, it wasn't his call to iso himself there though.
I agree he needs to work on getting the team into their offensive sets faster, but Beno was just as bad at getting us into our sets late in the game.
It wasn't Tyreke's best game but far from being so bad as to deserve the ripping he's getting here. I think people just are so used to a different style of Kings since our glory year Kings had some elite talents but not the superstar type. Late in games Tyreke is going to monopolize the ball a little more, it's the same as Kobe did on the other side.
I doubt you guys would have been happy if Tyreke had jacked up a deep three pointer down two with 8 seconds left in the first OT but that's just what someone did on the other team, and had his team lost I don't think there would be near the vitriol from Laker fans that we have here tonight (and I KNOW we consider ourselves to be more supportive fans than those meat heads).
Superstars make a ton of mistakes and fail a lot at teh end of games...but in the last week Tyreke also picked Arenas at the end of a game, made the game winning shot against the bucks, outscored the Bulls 9-3 in the last 2 minutes of the game, made the score that tied the game against the Cavs to send the game to OT...
Poor Lakers, playing a NBA schedule and having injuries. I'd like a press source to report the anti-dagger competition between Kobe and Tyreke.

I will say this again in case you missed it. Beno was getting the Kings in the offense in the first OT. Hell, the Kings score 7 points in the first OT with Beno. Once Tyreke was put back in the game, the offense stalled.
I voted ok but hard to stomach. Any loss to the hated Lakers is tough to take.
But, I will try to see the big picture.
I wish I had a Laker fan sitting here I could slap upside the head. It would make me feel better.

I actually got a phone call from a Laker fan friend who had taken his son to tonight's game. They're not celebrating the win. They both told me they considered the Lakers very lucky indeed to walk out of Arco with a win...and they said they couldn't help but be very impressed with the future that's obviously ahead for Tyreke Evans and the Kings.
the Kings got the big lead in the first OT on transition buckets and by pushing the pace off defensive stops. When the Lakers started scoring and getting thier defense set Beno wasn't getting us into the offense any faster than Tyreke was. Part of that may have been designed in fact since generally when you're up by 7 with 2 minutes left you want to use every second of the clock. If that is in fact your strategy, normally you want your best 1 on 1 player with the ball as the shot clock expires.

Nearly half the people there were Lakers fans, I was surrounded on three sides by them. Sacramento citizens don't even support their own team, pathetic.
