How about a sign and trade? Is it enough to make it before the draft day?
The free agent signing period doesn't open until about three weeks after the draft, so no.

I'm not entirely sure that a restricted free agent can be signed-and-traded anyway. I'm pretty sure that if he signs an offer sheet and we match he can't be signed-and-traded. But we may be able to make a qualifying offer and then negotiate a sign-and-trade so long as he doesn't sign an offer sheet in the meantime.

But that's beside the point. McCants can be neither signed nor traded before draft day.

Thanks Capt., that's somewhat depressing as I was hoping we can shop McCants around as he was really increasing his market when he stepped in Sactown.

Anyway, I would still hope we get that #1 pick even if we can't trade it. John Wall seems to be interested to go pro if he were to be picked #1 on this draft. Though I posted this on earlier thread, I'll post it again that if we're getting that number #1 pick, Petrie better give a call to John Wall. Being drafted #1 this year is way better than being promised #1 next year. Sometimes playing college system crumbles the players progress, ex. overhyped Jrue Holiday. And anyone advising John Wall to reject it is either plain dumb or Ricky Rubio's agent. :D:D:D
