During Summer League the NBATV ticker had the stats messed up for our players in the same way. Apparently they've got the numbers/names jumbled up and still haven't gotten around to fixing it. (That's kind of sad, really.)

Nik is just smooth as hell. Held his own on D too but he's onviously got a lot of work to do on that end.
Effort wise though you can't fault him.
Offense was just meh. I didn't see a lot of new sets out there. Having a big show to the middle or the foul line seemed a new wrinkle. Shame it was JT taking those shots.

I believe that we will see Ray next game.....it's tough to get meaningful minutes when playing the entire roster so I think Ray will play and then one of the other guards will sit or you will see even more small ball with Ben or Nik sliding to the 3 for minutes.
I think Moreland is a bit farther away...probably a lot farther away but he will get his minutes at some point. I'd like to see one of the bigs sit to see Moreland play. I prefer JT to sit...see him before, appears to be the same player of past years. More Casspi next game so DWill should sit.

It's too bad Omri Casspi only recieved 6 minutes in the ball game against the Toronto Raptors, I really hope we will see more of him in the next game against Toronto, I think coach Malone should insert Casspi in the game and give him more minutes, let's not forget he is probably in a very decent shape after the Eurobasket qualifiers tournament he was part of this summer where he led Israel to the Eurobasket tournament which will take place next summer.
From what I was able to see, D.Will wasn't too good in the minutes he played so I believe that maybe next game coach Malone will let Casspi to prove himself a bit more next game by increasing his minutes.
Other than Casspi, I was very pleased to watch Nik Staukas, I believe he can do wonders for the Kings this season, a very gifted scorer with a decent basketball IQ for a rookie, I hope we will once again have a candidate for the ROY trophy and maybe hopefully again a winner as well.
Another player who I like watching in general and feel like he is a good match for the team is Ramon Sessions, a very decent backup PG, who can also be a very proper starter when someone is injured and any adjustment is made in the starting five scheme, he can run the game very well and I believe this guy is a good asset for the Kings.

I watched the game, but did not think JT looked as bad as several comments indicated in this thread. One plat stood out in my mind, however menial it may seem, was JT's post play against Val. JT was an absolute rock, and was not being budged by a much larger (stronger?) player. Val attempted to back JT down, but failed. BenMc, for whatever reason, felt inclined to leave his man open on the perimeter, and attempt to double-team Val...and Val kicked it out to BMC's man and the three was converted. I was impressed by JTs post defense. I was not impressed with BMC not recognizing JT did not need help.
Now Derrick Williams? He was terrible, imo. That ounce of hope I had for him to live up to his potential is long gone. I dread seeing him play.

Shouldn't we technically be last because we have more losses than everyone else? 
Listened to the game on the radio, haven't read any of the "during the game posts above, just too many.
My random observations (listen-ervations):
- initially Kings seemed clumsy in shaingthe ball.
- turnovers acros the board crowded and frustrated offensive performance.
- Stasias didn't have his name called much but quietly made four of his first five shots.
- Hollins frustrated at least one shot on defense.
- sounded like defensive mix ups, not stopping moves to the basket nor covering open shooters.
- Sessions can move to the basket and score, what else I don't know.
- McLemore seemed to sputter.
- Didn't hear much from Gay or Cousins.
- Thompson was mentioned with some good moves and some miss hurled feet.
- Williams ??
- Evans did what he does and well - rebound.
- Caspi, when he got a shot off, misfired and then did it again a couple more times.
- Lots of fouls by our guys.
- Landry made a couple but couldn't master the free throw.
Not much tu chew on but I'd be happy to read other folks' takes or observations.

I prefer to think of it as we have no affirmative proof that any of the other cowardly organizations dare field a team to face us this year, so today we were #2 in the NBA just for having the guts to actually compete.
We also learned that there is a possibility that Malone is another Nellie disciple and he might turn out to be another Keith Smart.Well, we learned something today.

What is he trying to accomplish practicing on playing a shorty frontcourt line-up of Landry with either Reggie or D-Will for long stretches?
Can he not think of a taller combination (one that includes Cousins/Thompson/Hollins at center) that might be more effective?

That is an awful lot to be pulling out of the first preseason game of the year. Especially considering Demarcus is ideally going to be playing 36-38 minutes a night when games count.
I thought the Reggie/Landry frontline didn't look altogether awful (certainly passable for 3-4 minute spurts). Reggie's strong enough to at least muscle up most modern day 5s but I'd imagine one of either Demarcus or JT will be on the court at all times barring injury or foul trouble so we likely won't be dealing with this during the regular season.
Playing Williams at the 5, however, simply isn't going to work. But I think the coaching staff knows this and was more testing the idea of a three guard line-up with Sessions/Collison/Stauskas more than a Landry/Williams frontcourt.

People can make a fuss about it not being PC, but it's reality for anyone who's played. You're white and you're going to get tested. Guys will think they can attack you and will go at you until you prove yourself. Prove yourself and you'll get respect. Don't and you won't. Is it fair? I don't really care. Just go out there and handle your business. If you can ball, no one cares what color you are or where you were born.

Only some nerd writing for yahoo who's never played the game would attempt to make a point in this manner. I prefer Bird's honesty.

This is actually a positive piece on Nik. This is the kind of context that was missing from Jason Jones' poorly framed tweet, which made it almost sound as if Nik was playing the race card.
I think Jason Jones does a great job reporting on all things Sac Kings......................................................

Oh, I have no problem with the comment at all. You see this even playing at a gym where the white guy has to show he can hang before the other guys stop going at him.
I'm more infuriated at our own Sac Bee Reporter hanging our rookie out to dry and even making this a discussion in the first place.

I'm baffled why the guy even has that job. I mean he's been slow, lazy, un-thorough, of questionable integrity, and unpopular. It's like a lazy version of TMZ sports reporting. He's even shown a tendency to root for/over report things happening in SoCal sports.

Interesting that you brought up Smart. I was thinking the same thing when I heard Landry was playing at center. It reminded me of Thompson playing at small forward under Smart. I just don't understand the point of either of those situations. Does Malone really not know that Landry isn't a center just as Smart didn't know Thompson was a pf or center? It really makes you wonder.

Positionless basketball is cool beans that way. Its very much like what you play down at the local pickup game, where just about anybody can choose to bring the ball up, take a jumper, or post on any given possession. Its really the only professional and organized way to play the sport.
