Have you been? I was planning on going to the original location later this year. Curious if you have specific dish recommendations…I’m likely to do à la carte rather than the tasting menu. DIshoom is my usual go-to Indian in London since you don’t need a reservation two months in advance
I went for the very first time last night...
For the most part, everything that we ordered was fantastic, so I will do my best to remember it all:
Main Dishes
1. *Gol Guppas
2. *Beetroot Chops Pao -
WARNING: This comes with an extremely spicy chili pepper - proceed with caution! The pepper can be removed.
3. Methi Malai Mutter Paneer
4. *Morel Mushrooms & Truffle Pilaf
5. Chickpea Masala - this was probably my least favorite dish that we ordered, but it, too, was not bad.
6. Yellow Lentil Dal
Condiments
1. Pomegranate Raita - highly recommend this if you are a fan of raita in general, along with pomegranates. The flavor was incredible, and unique - something I can say that I did not expect.
2. House Pickles
Desserts
1. Mango Rasmalai
2. Coconut & Lime and Mango Sorbet (you have many options, and can order up to three - we ended up ordering two Mango sorbets because that was/is a popular option amongst my family. But there are other flavors that I am sure I would've enjoyed just as much).
My top three recommendations in terms of the main dishes are indicated as follows: *. Out of those dishes, the Beetroot Chops Pao, hands down, was my favorite - extremely flavorful!
We also ordered the Bread Basket.
NOTE: There are a handful of dishes that I saw on the menu that I would most likely consider ordering if I ever find may way back to
Gymkhana. For the purposes of your ask, however, I will leave those off as I really can't say that I recommend them without first being able to taste them...
