The Sacramento Kings today announced that they waived guards J.R. Giddens and Donald Sloan from their training camp roster. The Kings roster now stands at 17.

One can assume that the fact that Whiteside, Dalembert, and Jackson are all out for tomorrow night's preseason game might have been the saving grace for Connor Atchley.

I wonder how much these training camp invites make, if it's per day, a ten day contract, or what. Gotta be a decent little chunk to go play bball for a week or two. Maybe 8-10k for the two weeks?

No shockers here. Sloan's only chance was to impress another team, and I doubt he did that. I originally thought that Giddens might have an outside chance based on athletic ability and also being very young. But the emmergence of M. Landry probably doomed any chance he had. I agree on Atchley. I will say this about him. In Las Vegas he played very good defense away from the basket. He's also a very good shooter. If he was a SF, he'd probably have a chance to make a team in the league. But as a center, he's lacking in too many areas. He's sort of like Spencer Hawes light.

We already knew this was coming, neither deserve a spot on this roster. Next to go will be Luther Head & Marcus Landry.

IIRC, I read somewhere that it's more like 50K for the two weeks.

I could be misremembering but I recall something about $10,000 if they stick through preseason. If they don't it's a prorated amount.
