Fire Smart, hire Brown?

Well I know I can't see anyone else as him that is on the roster right now. Do u think Thomas is more like Williams? .

Well Williams is 6'3", 210 pounds and strong as an ox. IT is 5'9", 185 pounds. Williams is maybe the best postup PG in the NBA, and I doubt IT will post up anyone in the NBA. Williams is a lifetime 9 assist per game guy. So just off hand, no, I don't see a lot of comparison between the two.

I was wondering the other day what this team would be like if we had passed on Robinson, and drafted Lillard instead. We wouldn't have signed Brooks, and we still would have needed another big man, either a PF or a center, which we could have traded for, or signed in freeagency. Lillard is averaging 18.6 PPG, and 7.2 assists a game. He's a legit 6'3", and he's a terrific athlete. And, he's a good defender. His only flaw so far is that his outside shot has been a little inconsistent. I think he's shooting around 32% from the three. But in college he was a very good shooter, so I expect that shooting percentage to rise.

Lillard is a legit PG, and a willing passer. He's extremely quick and has great hops around the basket. He was a great pick for Portland.

I still have tremendous faith in Trob to be an incredibly valuable player for us. Before his stupid bonehead elbow, we saw growth from him game to game. He's starting to slow the game down and let his athleticism and strength be the main factors in his game while producing on the court.

I understood the reluctance to risk a Jimmer pt. 2 scenario.

On the other hand we also turned down a chance to trade for Kyle Lowry with that pick. A proven physical PG who's averaging a cool 18.3pts 5.8reb 6.3ast 3.0stl 0.5blk right now on 55% shooting. That presumably won't last, but even at normal Lowry numbers he's a tough, physical defensive minded guy who would fit right in to our defensive focus now.

But anyway. We didn't, so we are where we are. I have seen nothing to indicate TRob as a star. But the last few games he and we had simplfied things so that he could just use his athleticism as an effective roleplayer. The biggest problem with that is just its like the PG situation. He's been starting to roleplayer it, but there are already two guys ahead of him (Hayes/JT) who are just as good at that and so we're just giving TRob token minutes because he was the #5 pick. If we gave JT and Chuck 6 more apiece we wouldn't lose much in the tradeoff. Petrie has always favored cluttered rosters, but this one may be the worst. Would love a quantity for quality trade in the worst way.

Does anyone honestly think that any respectable coach (ie. Sloan or D'Antoni) would choose to coach the Kings?
On top of that, does anyone think that the Maloofs would offer a respectable coach an attractive contract?

This year is similar to watching Major League, and I hope that the Kings end up making the playoffs (don't laugh :D)

Pretty much this.

A coach of higher quality and higher pay is not coming here until the ownership situation changes.

Thats another scenario that would have been interesting. I certainly could have lived with Lowery. Drafting Lillard probably would have been looked at as an admission that Jimmer isn't going to succeed, and I doubt Petrie wanted to present that image. But Lillard was the most impressive player I saw in summer league. I knew he was a good athlete, but until you see a player in person, you have no idea how good. No comparison between him and Jimmer athleticly.

Lillard does look good. Didn't see him college. I did see Robinson though, and I have very high hopes for him. Sure would be nice if they could have IT run a pick and roll with the guy. He's very fast rolling to the basket, and he can finish, and if the opposing team switches quickly to cover the roll I think he's a good enough passer to get the ball to Cousins or Johnson on a quick tip pass.

You're still about 2-3 years too early to make any assertions on who "looks like a star" and who doesn't. Some rooks will start out strong and then struggle after 25 games because the league has a book on them. Bigs, outside of a handful of guys the last decade, have always had a slower adjustment time than guards. What's encouraging with Trob is we've seen growth in his game and performance each and every game. He's slowing the game down and starting to take his natural talent to take over.

i also wonder how much better they would be if they had drafter Kemba Walker instead of Jimmer last year :(

that young man can flat out play. check out his stat line tonight.
