Final Four Predictions??

Quite a few potential 1st rounders from these 4 teams. Who do you think makes the finals, and who wins?

My Picks:

North Carolina over Kansas
UCLA over Memphis (changed my prediction, Rose will have a good game, but UCLA will take it in a close one)

UCLA over North Carolina in the final

My bracket had 3 for the 4 teams in the Final Four, not choosing Memphis - silly me!

After seeing the Tigers in this tournament they are more frightening than I thought - and I knew they were LOADED. I thought their usually mediocre to horrible free throw shooting would be their eventual down fall and it still could get them bounced in San Antonio. Powerful Memphis over methodical UCLA in a nail biter. Earlier in the season Texas beat UCLA in LaLaland and Davidson had them down by 18 before finally losing to the Bruins in Anaheim. Of course, the Tigers have only lost one game all year to Tennessee. Memphis wants to play up tempo, but even if UCLA mucks it up into their usual half court slug fest - I still favor Memphis.

I had Kansas winning it all at the start. Now I'm hedging a bit, only because any one of these four number one seeds could take the crown and deserve it big time. North Carolina is standing in the Jayhawks way and Roy Williams certainly knows Kansas. What the heck, Kansas hits their outside shots and mucks it up defensively against UNC on the inside just enough. Kansas survives in another Saturday squeaker and on to the final game. But then to have to face those hungry, pissed off, us against the world Memphis Tigers - YIKES!

On Monday evening the "One Shinning Moment" cut down those championship nets goes to Memphis over Kansas in OT.

I had picked all 4. I'm usually bold and pick lots of upsets (correctly) but somehow I just couldn't see any this year for the 1 seeds (I did have 6 of the elite 8 too).

I've got UCLA over Carolina in the final, although I think Carolina likely wins. I just can't sway from my Pac-10 biases... already cost me a few points thanks to USC and Arizona (and I just knew Duke was going down in the 2nd round)... In any event, I win my pool going away unless Kansas wins it all, even if UCLA and Carolina go out first.

I've got Carolina over Kansas and UCLA over Memphis in my brackets. However, after watching Memphis against Texas, I like Memphis. Memphis looked taller, longer, and more athletic than Texas. If Memphis plays like they did against Texas I think they will take it, only to lose to the Tar Heels in the title game.

UCLA just got thunderstruck!

PG Collison looked like a tiny little kid vs. sensational long body VERY NBA PG ready Rose. Whoever Memphis now faces for the championship those fearless Tigers won't be intimidated.

Good for Memphis. I always liked Calipari when I lived in Boston and he coached at UMass.

I had UCLA so hopefully Carolina takes out Kansas so I don't have to do too much squirming in my pool.

Collison is in the lineage of shorties like Tyus Edney, Cameron Dollar and Farmar. Since UCLA benefits from a national talent pool, they may want to go for more height there. I've watched the FF pretty closely the last 3 years and UCLA has lost to taller teams each time. Their guards and forwards seem to be too streaky from the perimeter as well. That was even true of the 95 team with Toby Bailey and the O'Bannon Bros. Last year, Aaron Afflalo pulled a John Starks in the title gm from the perim.

I wonder if Kevin Love is going to go pro. If he swapped some of that bulk for more cuts, he'd be scary. Maybe become what Andrew Bogut was hyped up to be in the pros. As it stands, you'd expect a bit more quickness out of what is probably a tweener PF in the NBA. The 94 footers are amazing, there are only a couple documented 80 footers in NBA history (Magic in 87 and Bill Sharman in the 55 ASG). Those were baseball heaves. Hitting those with 2-hands and only a couple steps defies logic, they almost look like CGI.

Yeah those shots were being played daily here for a while. The boy can diss UO but the Portland media fawns all over him.
