ESPN Rondo for 4th and JT or Hawes?!?!?!

Multi-team trades do. However, I can't think of any two team trades done over the course of multiple deals. I would be concerned that making two lopsided trades to circumvent league rules could lead to some sort of punishment by the league. If you have any examples though, I would love to be proven wrong here, because of course it would give our team more options.

Think McGrady from Orlando to Houston as an example.

I also firmly believe his present situation is helping his game. He's surrounded by future HOFers who know how to get the best out of their teammates. I am not convinced in any way that Rondo would be able to play at the same level here. For one thing, his assist to TO ratio is good because his teammates do a pretty good job of actually getting the ball into the hoop. That ratio can plummet pretty quickly if the guy on the receiving end of that sweet dish doesn't convert the shot.

Thats pretty much my stance on the whole thing. Rondo may be a good point guard but in Sacramento where he would pretty much be the second option he would be disappointing without a doubt. He was pretty impressive in the playoffs without Garnett but he still had 2 superstars that opposing teams had to worry about compared to our 1 and only threat Kevin Martin. I'd rather have a promising big man who is learning to be "the man" on our team than a promising point guard who has played as the 4th option on his current team.

Lets assume for a moment that Rubio slides to number four. Will he, in a couple of years be a bigger star than Rondo? Of course I can't answer that question. But its possible. Its possible that Jennings or Flynn or Holiday will ultimately be better than Rondo. And I ask you. Why is Thompson being thought of as just a throw in to the deal. If I were him, I would be a little upset. Ditto Hawes.

Now ask yourself, why is Boston so anxious to trade Rondo if he's so great. What do they know that we don't know. If they would rather have Rubio, or insert name of choice, and Thompson, than Rondo, why pray tell, wouldn't we want the same thing? Is the Garnett injury worse than anyone knows? I don't have a clue. I'm just trying to apply logic to this senario. There's something here that stinks. At least from Boston's end.

The Celtics are, for the most part, an old team. The window is slowly closing for them. And yet, their willing to part with one of the younger stars on the team. The two places you try to build from are at the point guard position and the center position. Suspossedly they already have one in place in Rondo. So why do they want to trade him? OK, logic says, hey stupid, their getting both a young point guard and a PF or C in one trade. Two birds with one stone. OK, I get that. But were rebuilding too! Don't we need those exact same things? And if so, why trade them to Boston?

I'll pass thank you.

I'm still not at all convinced that Boston IS that anxious to trade Rondo.

The Kings are keeping number 4, they might trade it on draft day after they pick but there is no way they trade before draft day.

read up in the Boston Celtic RealGM thread. Reveals their reasoning.

Whose reasoning? The team ... or the fans? I generally detest trade scenarios since people inevitably propose things that are not usually realistic, drastically favor their team over the other, etc.

I wouldn't do it at all, we would give up JT and the 4th overall pick...I like rondo and all but that seems a bit steep.

I'd be tons more happy if we keep our players and add a Rubio, Jennings ect with our 4th pick.

There is some legitimacy to that concern. But if we made that move it might well be a sing that the sleeping Petrie has awoken and we are preparing for an aggressive summer trying to turn things around.

Yeah, you posted some interesting scenarios in this thread.

If we somehow go into next season with both Rondo AND Amare(or Bosh)...That is quite the turnaround.

Of course then you have to worry about 2 guys bolting in the 2010 offseason, and if we give up the #4 AND JT/Hawes....Our rebuild is set back a couple years again.

But who knows, once we get guys in Sac they tend to like it.

..Oh wait, that was when Rick was coach :p

It's only common sense that it would be the fans POV, no need to get snappy. On the contrary, they're discussing this same exact trade, with the same people involved, so I don't see how it "drastically" favors either team. That's what discussion is for and the reason this is a rumor is BECAUSE it is more realistic than people realize.

Besides, all this is speculation anyways. This whole personnel board is. We have absolutely no idea what Petrie is thinking, so anything could be ascertained as unrealistic or realistic. Their fans are fair and you will see that they make their assumptions based on what they know about their GM as we do with Petrie. They are doing the same thing we are doing. The way I see it, their reasoning is just as legitimate as yours.

I enjoy comparing our views with other teams because it's the closest thing to an actual GM-GM discussion we can get to. Anyways, just how I feel. I mean, what's the point of discussing a trade if we only have people from one side discussing it?

Yeah I noticed that as well -- it appears Boston really is willing to move Rondo. It also appears they really have an infalted opinion of his value. Seems little doubt which side came up with the #4 and JT package at this point.

Agreed! Pure nonsense in my opinion..
