I did not have room for Mahorn, but he was on my alternate lists as a designated kneecapper should things get rough. ;)

I knew there was never any chance of me participating in this draft (just not enough of a stat hound), but I immediately had 5 or 6 players pop into mind that I would have wanted. Now that Penny was drafted, they've finally all been taken.

My pick:

Vince "Vinsanity" Carter SF/SG

vince-carter-olympic-dunk.jpg

One of the coolest dunks ever.

Vince Carter is a freak of nature. At his prime, he was the most exciting player in the league. He has/had a wide arsenal of ways to score. He is/was a great outside shooter and obviously one of the most explosive and best dunkers. Although he has been known to not try as hard on defense, he will realize that he isn't the focal point of this team and if he doesn't play D, he doesn't play at all. In his best year, Carter averaged 28 ppg, almost 6 rpg, and nearly 4 apg. Injuries have plagued Vinsanity, but he is still playing well today.

* 8-time NBA All-Star selection: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 (did not play in 2002 due to injury)
* 2-time All-NBA:
o Second Team: 2001
o Third Team: 2000
* NBA Slam Dunk Champion: 2000
* NBA All-Rookie First Team: 1999
* NBA Rookie of the Year Award: 1999
* The Sporting News NBA Rookie of the Year: 1999[43]

Toni Kukoc

3x NBA Champion and former 6th Man of the Year for the all time great Bulls teams, and so versatile a piece that he could legitimately play all 5 positions on the floor (SF/PF was his natural home). Toni was a dangerous shooter and a suberb passer and should be able to provide matchup flexibility along the frontline while keeping the offense perking right along when Larry takes a break for me. Initially this was going to be Horry's spot, but Kukoc is not at all a bad consolation prize and could even do some things that Horry could not.

Remember when I said before that I hated you? Now, I REALLY hate you! Really...

In a rush, so I'll post pics and stats later. My frontcourt is lacking athleticism, so I'm taking Amar'e Stoudemire

Let that pic be a warning to you Jespher :p.

J/k obviously. Amar'e should be a great 6th man for me, or maybe even starter. Gives my frontcourt some much-needed athleticism, cause this guy can jump outta the gym.

4 time all-star, 2 All NBA selections (1 1st, 1 2nd), 2003 Rookie of the year.

So far, career averages of 21pts, 9rebs, 1.5ast, 1stl, 1blk per game.

I select Mark Price. The other John Stockton:). Great shooter, underrated defender, and a sweet passer. So in crunch time when we really need a hoop who will you guard on the perimeter? KJ, Manu, and LeBron can drive and kick to their hearts content, and Dwight and Zo can play inside/outside with deadeye shooters.

Mark Price - PG 6'0" 170Lbs.

Mark Price was an All NBA 1st-team member in 1992/93 (over John Stockton and Gary Payton, Isiah Thomas, and Tim Hardaway). He lead his Cavs with dead eye shooting, excellent ball handling and court vision, and superb peremeter defense (he averaged 2.6 spg in 1991). He is still the all time leader in free throw percentage, and he also is a career 40% 3 point shooter too. He'll be lights out off the bench, running the break, and the pick and roll with LeBron or Pau.

Career Highlights:
The 6-foot (183 cm) Price played college basketball at Georgia Tech. A point guard, he mystified critics who said he was too slow, too small and too deliberate for a high-level game. Selected first in the second round (25th overall) by the Dallas Mavericks in the 1986 NBA Draft, he was acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in a draft day trade that helped turn the team into an Eastern Conference power.

Price was known as one of the league's most consistent shooters. He finished his career with a 90.4% free throw shooting percentage, placing him as the league's all-time leader in this statistical area, and a 40% three-point field goal shooting percentage. During the 1988–89 season, Price became the third player, along with Larry Bird and Reggie Miller, to shoot at least 40% from three-point range, at least 50% from the field and at least 90% from the free throw line. Steve Nash also did so in his 2005–06 and 2007–08 seasons with Phoenix. Price ranked consistently among the assist leaders (as of April 2009, he is the Cavaliers all-time leader with 4,206), twice won the Long Distance Shootout, and was a four-time All-Star. Price was named to the All-NBA First Team after the 1992–93 season. Price currently ranks second in franchise steals with 734, a Cavaliers record that stood until December 9, 2008 when LeBron James surpassed him.

He played for the US national team in the 1994 FIBA World Championship, winning the gold medal.

He was plagued by injuries late in his career, a factor in his trade to the Washington Bullets prior to the 1995–96 season. He played one season for Washington before moving on to the Golden State Warriors and later the Orlando Magic, where he played his final season. He retired in 1998. Not long after retirement, Price's number, 25, was retired by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The city of Enid, Oklahoma, renamed the basketball arena Mark Price Arena, as a tribute to the NBA player's accomplishments, since he was one of the best basketball athletes in Enid High School history.

I was also thinking Jose Calderon or Jason Williams here, but their defense is nonexistent compared to Mark Price, and they didn't have the all around game and assist numbers either:).

Michael Cooper

I actually can't believe he was still on the board. He fits in nicely with my team, he is versatile enough to spell Barry and MJ if needed. He will also make for a nice stopper and late game defensive replacement as well. He will be a vital part of our rotation.

5× NBA Champion (1980, 1982, 1985, 1987-88)
NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1987)
5× NBA All-Defensive First Team (1982, 1984-85, 1987-88)
3× NBA All-Defensive Second Team (1980, 1983, 1986)
2× WNBA Champion (As a coach)
1× NBA D-League Champion (As a coach)
J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award (1986)

"Coop" became an integral part of the "Showtime" Lakers teams of the 1980s with his indomitable will on the defensive end of the court. In his 12-year NBA career, he was named to eight NBA All Defensive Teams, including five First Teams. He won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1987. He, along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson, was a member of five Lakers championship teams in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987 and 1988.

Cooper played shooting guard, small forward, and point guard, although his defensive assignment was invariably the other team's best shooter at the 2 or 3 position. Larry Bird has always said that Cooper was the best defender he played against

Coop also was a great passer averaging 4.2 assists during his career.

Leaving the team after the 1989-90 season, he was ranked among the club's all-time top 10 in three-point field goals (378), games played (793), total minutes played (21,784), steals (966), blocked shots (487), assists (3,451), defensive rebounds (1,860), offensive rebounds (682) and free throw percentage (.829).
