Good for him. Seriously. I hope he does well somewhere in the NBA, cause from the outside looking in it appears that he was never given a fair shot here.
just like the rest of our young guys, not properly developed or coached or utilized. not given the chance to make mistakes and go thru going pains on the floor without getting yanked.
he will be a fine piece somewhere else. he's a 6'10 forward with guard like skills who can defend for stretches and has a few years under his belt, not to mention hes gonna be cheap.
Does this suggest a trade has been agreed to?
Exactly the way I feel. I really like Donte and wish him all the best.I know there's been a lot of comparison between Donte Greene and Gerald Wallace, but Donte is not Gerald. I, too, liked Donte but I just don't think he ever took things seriously enough. It never seemed as though basketball was a passion to him, as much as it was a fun job. I wish Donte well, but do not have a problem with him not being made a qualifying offer.

Please. He had numerous shots. He's just not very good.

https://twitter.com/CarmichaelDave/status/218113974221287425Spoke with Donte Greene. He will not be re-signed by the Kings. He's on an airplane. If he lands in time, he'll be on #CDNET tonight 2 talk.
You need more than "shots". You need a structure. You need committment from a coach, over time. Not just random bits of playing time, or even stretches of games where you start. Please. Every coach who was here was more interested in keeping their job in the short term than developing players over the long term. Guys don't come into the league ready to go anymore. One year college players drafted mid to late first round are going to need guidance for a couple years, and consitency. Donte never got that.
Excuses, excuses! I can list dozens of players who developed and became studs even with crappy coaches/organizations. You just have to persevere. Donte played on a lousy team who desperately could have used him if he was a solid player. He would have had to find a way to stick. Look at IT, look at Thornton, look at Twill. They have all flourished and have established themselves in the league now. Donte was never able to do that. Like others have said, he never had the killer instinct or work ethic. He's always been a poor decision maker on the floor and never developed a consistent shot. He was able to do a lot of things average to below average. In order to stick in this league you need to at least excel in ONE category.
Just because he's 6'10 with "guard skills" doesn't mean he's going to blow up on another team. I think he will land somewhere and probably end up with the same type of role and produce the same type of results. Good luck to him though. Always seemed like a pretty good kid.

I agree.Donte will go on to be a very fine player in this league, and still has a chance to be all star level. The coaching he received here was a joke. There was no leadership in the organization. Essentially, his coach and his leader was George Maloof. Not gonna go very far in the situation.
To those who say he didn't have the killer instinct. I think you're wrong. He improved tremendously on D, and showed a killer defensive instinct. Offensively, players have different styles that work for them. Some guys are just more loose, joking, by nature, doesn't mean they don't care, don't work, or don't want to win. That's just their personality.
I have no doubt that he'll land with a team that will develop him properly. I would not be surprised to see him end up on the Spurs, or the Thunder.
I really hope the Spurs pick him up
