Denver signs trio of guards...

Denver Post - With much of the dust already settled on the free-agent market, the Nuggets made their move Thursday for one of the top names left on the shelf.

They agreed to sign Memphis point guard Earl Watson to a five-year deal believed to be worth about $29.3 million. The Nuggets also retained shooting guards Greg Buckner and DerMarr Johnson with one-year contracts.

Denver was rarely mentioned publicly close to Watson's name as Cleveland, Utah, Minnesota and others reportedly eyed him. But agent Dan Fegan said the Nuggets made early contact with him and separated themselves with a "consistent and professional" approach.

Fegan also listed coach George Karl as a draw, saying, "He's an expert at exploiting mismatches and he's always found ways to use talented players. A case in point is how they finished (last) season. Since George took over they had the best record in the NBA."

Wonder who starts at PG? I'd think Miller.

Nuggets are gonna be STACKED at the SG/SF position...

Lenard - Buckner/DJ/Hodge/Miller/Boykins
Carmelo - Buckner/DJ/Hodge/Hervelle(?)/Sanchez(?)

I really want to see Hodge get some nice PT... I think and hope he'll impress to do so...

Well, they'll at least have a lot of bodies. Don't know about stacked given that they still have no natural starting OG.

Makes me think something more may be afoot in Denver. Miller, Boynkins AND Watson just doesn't seem to make much sense unless they planning to make Miller (or maybe Boynkins? ) into a big minute OG.

i would assume that watson would be their pg and miller their sg..... but who knows....

Then they'd have the shortest starting backcourt in the league...

No way Miller's going or moving to the starting two. It'll be one of Lenard/DeMarr Johnson/Buckner. All 4 are capable of starting, and have started before, they could switch them around. Unless they get Sprewell of course.

well if the got sprewell theyd really be overloaded. I think vandeweghe is just drawing straws at this point.

Nuggets must have the LLE left or vet mininum, as the Sprewell/Denver talk is still alive (nothing really about it today though, but from yesterday) despite them using the MLE on Watson. I don't know if Spree ends up in Denver now though..

I would guess they are no longer interested in House?

Nope, but I'd think Cleveland/Miami still are.
