David Lee?

Story going online now: ESPN sources say Warriors and David Lee's camp have resolved to work together to find new home for former All-Star

I saw the Eric Gordon post and thought Lee, at nearly the same cost as Gordon, would be a better option. It wouldn't be my first choice to blow our cap money on... but it would not be the worst-case scenario, imo.

Kings send Landry/JT
Warriors send Lee/2nd rd pick

If we were to drop one of Landry or JT, I could see Warriors sending a 1st rd pick back.

To do what exactly? There will be so much money available in 2016, that everyone of notice will get paid handsomely AND have a choice to pick their destination. 38-win team with main stars almost on their way out certainly won't be high on anyone's list.

So if we strike out on Affalo/Matthews/Lawson deals, Lee is an absolute, "no" from you? It would free us up in cap room for 2016.

Seems odd that you think everyone wants an Afflalo or Lawson deal to happen. Matthews is a FA so he could only be included in a sign and trade.

We shouldn't be acquiring pieces that don't compliment our core in trades. People talk about how you take BPA in the draft and use trades and FA to balance your roster. Well trading for a guy like Lee would be exactly the opposite of that.

Let's use our trade assets on people who actually make sense with our core.

I think the common wisdom is that the Warriors want to clear cap space in 2016 to go after Durant. At the very least Lee is expiring then, while Landry is not and JT would require a buy-out. So I'm not sure that such a deal would be even remotely tempting to the Warriors.

Well, I guess in that case... no need to discuss options for the Kings. We can't sign them anyways...

Well, if the Warriors could find a third team to take Landry, it would be worth it for them.

Phili gets Landry and Warriors' 1st rd
Warriors get JT and save about 9 Mill
Kings get Lee

No. WCS should be available in the draft. Kings must acquire low usage big with D to put into starting lineup, fill bench backcourt with middling, but experienced talent, pray a lot for health of Boogie and enjoy the ride to 8th seed. Then Vlade can sell Kings to FAs as the team on the rise.

Lee is a good offensive player but he wouldn't have a chance to produce much. David Lee as a 3rd option is probably a 10 and 10 PF with bad defense.

Why the hell would we want to HELP the Warriors with their worst contract?
They are going to have to get rid of Lee if they want to keep Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes..... why would we help them out?
Whoever takes Lee should be getting the Warriors' next first round draft pick as compensation for Lee's $15+ million salary next year.

I doubt the Warriors have any real plans revolving around Durant. They'll be heavy into the luxury tax next season resigning Green unless they can essentially dump Lee's salary completely, something I see zero chance of happening. And while they'd have the room, so will a lot of teams next offseason and I'm not sure Durant wants to be Curry's wingman. Much more likely he'd head home to D.C. IMO. Besides, in 2017 the Warriors will be likely giving Curry a new max deal, not to mention Iggy and Bogut, should they want to resign them.

I think the Warriors will be content to keep this roster largely together, especially since the contracts stagger so nicely for them to do so.

Lacob has already said he's willing to pay the luxury tax (at least for a season or two) and so they can resign Green and go above the threshold next season. Even if they find no takers for Lee he's off the books next offseason when Harrison Barnes (and Festus Ezeli) become free agents.

I think the Warriors are looking to move Lee primarily to give him a better opportunity elsewhere and only secondarily as a cost savings measure.
