dalembert is out 4 to 6 weeks

How unfortunate. I guess this means DC will be the starter from Day one and will get plenty of minutes to produce and show he is worthy of being a starter. I am just worried about his stamina and conditioning and will he be able to handle 30+ minutes consistently day in and day out. Also, this should mean that (hopefully) Whiteside gets some playing time as well to showcase his shotblocking abilities.

Of course. When is the last time the Kings were at full strength to start a season?

One man's misfortune is another man's opportunity. That would be Cousins of course.

Obviously Cousins will be our starting center from day 1, and I don't see him relinquishing that spot at any point unless it is due to injury. But aside from that, I am kind of split on why this happened to Dally in the first place. We all know about the travesty which happened in Haiti, and we all know Dally has spent a lot of time down there trying to help with the recovery. He said on media day he didn't have access to a gym during his numerous trips to Haiti this summer, and therefor wouldn't workout for weeks at a time, and then go back to Miami and essentially overtrain to make up for lost time. He basically played catchup the last month of the offseason, and overworked himself, which lead to the injury. Normally, I would be pretty pissed that a player didn't dedicate himself all offseason and followed a pre-planned regimen, and instead overtrained due to lost time, and ends up getting injured and will miss the first 2 months of the season. I know it's 4-6 weeks, but he hasn't really done much the first 2 weeks of training camp either.

So I said normally I would be pissed, but at the same time I want to be sensitive to what happened in Haiti. It was a tragedy, and I know Dally feels he has to help out. But, we are paying him a lot of money to be in shape, and ready to play. So where do we draw the line? It's not like he missed workouts because he was having lunch on top of the Eiffel Tower, he was doing humanitiarian work, to a situation he is very close to. But from a business perspective, is that a valid excuse? I don't know. Dally did however admit when he first suffered the injury that his busy offseason and inconsistent training probably had something to do with it.

DeMarcus Cousins is not ready to play 35 minutes a night in the NBA -- mainly because it's impossible for him to stay on the floor.

Hey, last year Martin went down and evans stepped up crazy. Maybe cousins will do the same. I actually think he will grasp the oppurinity and flourish.

It is absolutely a valid excuse. There is no line to be drawn in this situation. When something like that happens, you support your player 100% with what they want to do. It builds trust. It builds chemistry. It builds respect. Plus he's a vet and knows the game well, not still learning it like a young pup would be doing in the offseason. I generally feel that offseason for older guys should include more rest anyway.

If he was my employee, I applaud and support him 100%. Of course the injury will come to bear come negotiating time, but that is part of Dally's choice. Blessing in disguise for Whiteside though, who might see more time for the first month of the season. Who knows... we could be in for a real treat seeing him with Cousins.

It probably means that Thompson just became the full time back up center. Until Dalembert returns..

Jeez this guy had one of the longest active streaks of games played. Then he comes to the Kings and look what happens...

Oh well, get better soon. In the meantime, we'll see more of Cousins, Thompson and maybe even a Whiteside sighting

Suddenly there is not a log jam of Bigs. Instead of people clamoring for DMC to start we are all concerned if he can handle it.

We fans is funny:)

It's a good opportunity for Cousins. I just hope Whiteside can get healthy soon so he can get some minutes. Also, Thompson has got to get it together. He cannot be fouling out of games because Cousins is definitely going to have foul issues in his rookie year. Thompson is no rookie. He doesn't have any excuse.

And yes, Greene will probably be playing some power forward...:D

Yeah, 5 years without missing a game, until he became a King.

I figured that Dally wouldn't be with us for long, but maybe this is a sign that he belongs in Sac. :p

So, how is Whiteside randomly out "indefinently" I don't recall him getting injured, matter fact getting playing time on the court what so ever. It seems that this year might be a BIG injury plagued year for us if we keep heading down this road.

Seriously - what gives with Whiteside? Why won't they give a timeframe?

The last time I heard "out indefinitely" was with Randy Foye's stress fracture - and he ended up being out from the start of the season until February. Hopefully, "out indefinitely" means 4-6 weeks, not 4-6 months. How bout an announcement, Kings?
