Craig Sagers is a punk

There already is negative backlash. The refs recognize a bad rep, bloggers and talking heads criticize him, and nba fans think he's a headcase. There's no need for sager to do what he did when he did it. Totally uncalled for.

I didn't say there was a need for him to do it, but I doubt much would embarrass him as much as that did. There are consequences to your actions, whether they are fair or not.

You are missing the point!!!! This isn't about whether Cousins deserves to be thrown under the bus at the all star game after scoring 33 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. This is about professionalism on the part of someone that suspossed to be a big time announcer. We're criticizing Sager, not defending Cousins, because there's nothing to defend at the moment. Other than his reputation, which unfortunately, precedes him. Essentially, two wrongs don't make a right.

What I'm amazed at are the so called wonderful, loving, understanding people on this fourm, that seem to take pleasure at kicking someone when they're down. I wonder if those people think thats the best way to rehabilitate someone. Especially a 20 year old kid. I wonder if those people would treat their own son that way. If so, I pity their son. At a moment that was suspossed to be joyous, Sager decided to take the opportunity to make fun of Wall's ex-teammate, and throw sour grapes on the entire ceremoney. That was wrong regardless of who he was making fun of. And thats the point!

Nailed it.

Asking real questions that people want answered is something I don't have a problem with. Sager's Q was asked to the wrong person, which made it look worse. Ask DMC that if you want. Talk to John Wall about something relevant to the moment.

Of course it was rude and unprofessional, but it's very much apart of his gimmick. He's a jerk, he does it on purpose to keep his job, just like the stupid outfits. So I just roll my eyes and move on like all the other times he's done it to other people. To continue harping on it is just more handwringing that this board is already flooded with.

I merely pointed out that there is a lesson for Cousins here, and there is. Hopefully he takes it to heart.

See this is the problem with our society nowadays. We baby everybody because we're so afraid to hurt somebody's feeeeeeeeeelings. This is a 20 year old MAN who earns millions of dollars playing basketball and he is now a public figure. He chose this profession. Public figures can take criticism from anybody and it's not considered slander. See George Bush, Obama, etc... Oh, and by the way, if this was my kid I would tell him the same thing right to his face. The season's half over and Cousins has already assaulted a teammate, got into it with a trainer, been kicked out of practice, suspended by the team, benched, etc. 33 pts/14 rebs or not, I don't think he deserves any slack. These professional athletes are treated like Gods even though most of them are not good human beings. Once he figures out that he needs to grow up and act like a man instead of a little boy then the Craig Sagers of the world will stay off his ***.

You don't get it. It was the context. It was the lie. Sager is already a grown/groan? man and shows the same judgment as Cousins. The major diffeence is that Sager will never change.

Craig Sager is a PUNK but Jim Grey is an ASSHAT! Grey and Walton are absolutely HATED in the Sacramento area! The only logical reason for the Maloofs to inflict these two clowns upon the Sacramento market is to prepare fir the team moving to the LA area. Grey is a total assclown who is hated throughout the sports community. So the only logical conclusion is that the Maloofs are already in the process of relocation. I remember at the beginning of the season thinking it was odd to bring Walton, a longtime Laker Lover and Kings Hater to the broadcast team. It suggests that the Maloofs have already put into motion their relocation plan and are already planing for their eventual move. I will be very surprised if the Maloofs don't apply for relocation this year for a move next season. Sacramento has only the local liberal government to blame. Their are just too many liberals in city and county government who have been blocking the building of a new arena for so many years that the Maloofs are tired of fighting for an arena that probably will never come. Enjoy the team while you can because the future is looking pretty bleak for the future of the Sacramento Kings. I have disliked Grey and Walton for a very long time. Makes watching games on tv or radio unbearable. Those two JERKS will do very well in the LA area however. Too bad the Sacramento area has been over run by the liberal taint of the Bay Area. Sacramento used to be a good conservative area to live in but it has become a real liberal cesspool the last 5-10 years. The government has driven away the jobs, the companies, the wealthy, and all the progress out of the region. Now they are driving away the only national symbol Sacramento has. We will not get another Pro team in our lifetimes. How pathetic is it that a town like Stockton can build a nice new arena but Sacramento, a city 4 times bigger claims poverty! When the Kings leave, thank a LIBERAL !

Negative, negative, negative. Why pick on the Maloofs or see something sinister in what they are doing? Other than their impulsiveness as fans and owners, they have been great owners and supporters. They have done darn near anythining that can be done. I see bringing in Gray and Walton as just another attempt to bolster the image of the Kings. Not everybody hates them, ya know. Some identify them on a national level. This boosts the Kings.

The people who hate them will like the Kings no less. Those who DO like them may be drawn a little closer to the Kings.

I think they are pulling out all stops on making the Kings a success as a team and financially.

By you, perhaps. I'm no fan of Jim Gray, but I can't say I hate him. I actually enjoy Walton. You can make your shocked noises now, but keep in mind that there are others who voice approval on the game threads. It's hardly a unanimous decision on Walton.

The only logical reason for the Maloofs to inflict these two clowns upon the Sacramento market is to prepare fir the team moving to the LA area.

Perhaps, just perhaps, the Maloofs thought that by bringing in some nationally-recognized broadcasters they would improve their broadcasting team? Maybe that's an option before running straight on ahead to Conspiracy-Theory Land? You know, if the Maloofs want to move the Kings, they don't have to "make Sacramento hate them" first. They can just move them.

It has often been said, never attribute to malice that which can be reasonably explained by incompetence. Bringing in Jim Gray to replace Kayte because he's nationally-recognized sure smells of incompetence to me. There's no reason to resort to malice for an explanation.

When the Kings leave, thank a LIBERAL !

Now, now. Interesting that conservatives blame liberals and liberals blame conservatives for the exact same thing here, isn't it? If you're going to rant like this - hating announcers, conspiracy-style theories about the Maloofs, political commentary (a definite no-no on this site) perhaps you need to give yourself a time-out.

I bet Sager only did it because Cousins is a King and the game was at Staples. Just trying to support the local crowd and dog on their hated state neighbors to the north.
